  • Patent number: 5318727
Abstract: A cationic compound is useful for a cleaning agent such as shampooing and defined by the formula (I): ##STR1## in which R1 is straight or branched and an alkyl having 7 to 15 carbon atoms or an alkenyl having 7 to 15 carbon atoms; R2, R3 and R4, independently of one another, are an alkyl having 1 to 3 carbon atoms; G is hydrogen atom, an alkyl having 1 to 3 carbon atoms or a hydroxyalkyl having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, E is hydrogen atom, an alkyl having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, a hydroxyalkyl having 1 to 3 carbon atoms or an ammonium group having the formula (II): ##STR2## Y being hydrogen atom or hydroxy, A being hydroxy, a halogen atom or an alkylsulfate having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, m being 2 or 3, n being zero or an integer of 1 to 5, provided that (1) when G is an alkyl or a hydroxyalkyl, E is neither an alkyl nor a hydroxyalkyl, (2) when n is 1, Y is hydrogen atom or hydroxy and when n is zero, 2, 3, 4 or 5, Y is hydrogen atom and (3) G and E cannot both be hydrogen.

  • Patent number: 5282983
Abstract: An aqueous fabric softener composition is disclosed, which comprises water and, as a softener new material, an ammonium salt obtained by neutralizing the following Compound (A):(A) a di-long chain type tertiary amine compound containing one ##STR1## group in which R represents an alkyl or alkenyl group containing from 11 to 21 carbon atom, one CONH group and one alkyl or alkenyl group containing from 11 to 22 carbon atomswith the following Compound (B):an inorganic acid or an organic acid containing from 1 to 6 carbon atoms,or quaternizing Compound (A), or a mixture of the ammonium salt obtained by neutralizing Compound (A) with Compound (B) and the ammonium salt obtained by quaternizing Compound (A). An ammonium salt obtained by neutralizing or quaternizing Compound (A) is also disclosed. The fabric softener composition of the present invention imparts the sufficient softness, the antistaticity and the resiliency (fluffy feeling) to clothes of various fibers.

  • Patent number: 4709045
Abstract: A 1,2-substituted imidazoline compound having the formula (I): ##STR1## in which R2 is an alkyl or alkenyl group having 8 to 22 carbon atoms and n is 2 or 3, is produced by (1) feeding in a reactor a dialkylenetriamine (II) with a higher fatty acid of R2COOH or an ester thereof (III) at a molar ratio of the compound (III) to the compound (II) in the range of 1.5:1 to 1.8:1, (2) effecting the reaction at an internal temperature of 100.degree. to 250.degree. C. at a reduced pressure, (3) adding to the reaction mixture so that the above defined molar ratio in total may reach at least 2.0:1 and (4) continuing the reaction at an internal temperature of 100.degree. to 250.degree. C. at a reduced pressure. The reaction proceeds with a high yield of the product (I), without by-production to primary and second amines.

  • Patent number: 4705893
Abstract: An imidazoline compound, suitable for an amphoteric surfactant, is prepared from by reacting (a) an alkylimidazoline with a monohaloacetic acid in (b) a lower alcohol and (c) water in the presence of an alkali, by-production of inorganic salts being prevented by controlling proportions of (a), (b) and (c) within the scope shown in the drawing.
