  • Publication number: 20140049529
Abstract: In a plasma display apparatus, the address discharge is stabilized, the contrast is sharpened, and the image display quality is improved. A first up-ramp waveform voltage is applied to the scan electrode, and then a voltage causing no discharge to the scan electrode is applied to the scan electrode, in the sustain period of a weak-discharge sustain operation subfield in a discharge cell that is to be subjected to a forced initializing operation in the initializing period of the subfield immediately after the weak-discharge sustain operation subfield. A second up-ramp waveform voltage is applied to the scan electrode after generation of the first up-ramp waveform voltage, in the sustain period of the weak-discharge sustain-operation subfield in a discharge cell that is to be subjected to a selective initializing operation in the initializing period of the subfield immediately after the weak-discharge sustain-operation subfield.

  • Patent number: 8405576
Abstract: A sustain pulse generation circuit of a plasma display device generates and switches a first sustain pulse for causing light emission having double peaks, a second sustain pulse having a falling edge steeper than that of the first sustain pulse, and a third sustain pulse having a rising edge and a falling edge steeper than those of the first sustain pulse and causing light emission having a single peak. The second sustain pulse or the third sustain pulse is generated immediately before the third sustain pulse. The first sustain pulse is generated immediately before the second sustain pulse. Provided between the second sustain pulse and the third sustain pulse and between the third sustain pulses is a first overlap period in which a time period for causing the corresponding sustain pulse to rise is overlapped with a time period for causing the corresponding sustain pulse to fall.

  • Patent number: 8305300
Abstract: The method for driving a plasma display panel effects control of the sub-fields in a manner that at least one sub-filed carries out, in its initializing period, an all-cell initializing operation on the discharge cells and the plurality of sub-fields other than the aforementioned sub-field selectively carry out an addressing operation in each discharge cell; at the same time, two or more predetermined sub-fields carry out an addressing operation only when at least one sub-field had an addressing operation after the all-cells initializing operation; and an unusual-charge erase period, where scan electrodes SC-SCn undergo application of voltage with a rectangular waveform, is provided after the initializing period of at least one sub-field of the predetermined sub-fields.

  • Publication number: 20110080380
Abstract: A plasma display device has a plasma display panel, a scan electrode driving circuit, a sustain electrode driving circuit, and a data electrode driving circuit. In the sustain period of at least one subfield, the scan electrode driving circuit and the sustain electrode driving circuit apply a plurality of sustain pulses alternately to scan electrodes and sustain electrodes, and the data electrode driving circuit applies a data pulse to data electrodes by changing the timing according to the sustain pulses while the sustain pulses are applied.
