Each pixel includes: a photoelectric conversion element; an FD section that converts charges transferred from the photoelectric conversion element to voltage; and an FD extension section used to increase a capacitance of the FD section and controlled between connected and disconnected states. The control unit controls the connected and disconnected states of the FD extension sections and the connected and disconnected states between the output lines and the signal processing units.
