Abstract: A synthetic-speech calculator includes a calculating circuit inclusive of a plurality of memory locations to allow successive or chain calculations by some calculations equations and calculating numerical data, and voice synthesizer for providing pronunciation of selected calculating information. The calculator further comprises a first circuit for loading the some calculation equations and the calculating numerical data to the selected memory locations, a second circuit for indicating or pronouncing the some calculation equations and the calculating numerical data which have been utilized for the calculation and stored in the memory locations, and a third circuit for repeating the calculation by the some calculation equations and the calculating numerical data all stored in the memory locations.

Abstract: A card-type compact data terminal is provided being operatively connectable to a portable electronic apparatus. The data terminal can be removed from the apparatus. The data terminal serves to input and store data for the apparatus while separated from the apparatus. When it is operatively combined with the apparatus, the stored data within the data terminal are processed by the apparatus, even complicated processes, at high speed.

Abstract: In an electronic apparatus, for example, a programmable calculator, a portable or handheld computer, a memory module, or a data collector, incorporating a battery backup RAM, the present invention provides means for first checking the memory contents when the power-OFF command has been activated, and then causes the results of the checking to be stored in a specific area of the RAM. When the memory contents checking command has been activated, the system rechecks the memory contents to see if the memory contents have varied. The invention securely confirms whether the memory contents of either the effective programs or data have been correctly backed up when either replacing the battery or during storage of an electronic apparatus that uses the battery backup RAM. This is particularly effective for portable or handheld programmable computers.

The translator comprises an input circuit for entering the first word or words, a memory circuit for storing the second word or words, an access circuit for addressing the memory to cause retrieval of the second word or words, a retrieval control circuit for selecting the retrieval speed of the access means and an indicating circuit responsive to the access circuit for indicating the second word or words.

Abstract: An alarm timepiece is disclosed which is capable of setting a plurality of alarm settings and selecting which of a plurality of messages should be outputted in association with a respective alarm setting. Selected messages are output by a speech synthesis technique, and an exchangeable ROM cassette is provided for containing speech-synthesizing data characteristic of the content of the messages.

Abstract: A new and useful combination of a radio receiver, a television receiver, a tape recorder and an electronic calculator is described. A display (for example, a cathode ray tube) of the television receiver is connected to serve also as a display for the electronic calculator. Abstract: In a combination timepiece and calculator, a keyboard receiving section is provided within the body of the combination timepiece and calculator for accommodating a slidable keyboard therein. Switching means are associated with the keyboard receiving section so as to place the combination timepiece and calculator in the timepiece mode when the keyboard is housed within the keyboard receiving section, and to place the combination timepiece and calculator in the calculator mode when the keyboard is drawn out from the keyboard receiving section.
