  • Patent number: 9010904
Abstract: A capping mechanism, which causes an ejection space opposing ejection openings of a liquid ejection head to take either one of a sealed state and a non-sealed state, includes an annular component which surrounds the ejection space in the sealed state and an opposing member which opposes the ejection openings with the ejection space interposed therebetween. A mechanism for supplying humidified air generates humidified air and includes a supply opening and a discharging opening. The supply opening and the discharging opening are positioned to form a humidifying passage such that the humidified air having flown along an inner circumferential surface of a first region of the annular component passes through a gap between the ejection openings and the opposing member and flows along an inner circumferential surface of a second region of the annular component, which opposes the first region.

  • Patent number: 8882235
Abstract: An image recording apparatus includes a liquid applying mechanism that applies a first liquid onto a recording medium, a liquid discharge head that discharges a second liquid onto the recording medium, a wiper that wipes a liquid discharge surface of the liquid discharge head, and a processor. The processor counts a number of jams of the recording medium and a number of passages of the recording medium through the liquid discharge head. The processor increments the number of jams when the number of passages is equal to or greater than a first threshold value. The image recording apparatus performs a head recovery operation when a jam of a recording medium occurs and when the number of jams is incremented.

  • Patent number: 8727487
Abstract: When a jam detector detects jamming, forced discharging from a head and wiping of an ejection surface are performed after a recording medium jammed is removed from a conveyor. When the count on a jam counter matches with any of one or more thresholds, at least the number of times the wiping is executed after the jammed recording medium is removed from the conveyor is greater than that executed when the count on the jam counter does not match with any of one or more thresholds.

  • Patent number: 8025372
Abstract: A main ink tank side connector of an inkjet printer moves, with respect to a sub ink tank side connector, between a first positional relationship where the two connectors are connected, and a second positional relationship where the main ink tank side connector is disconnected from the sub ink tank side connector. A wall member surrounds at least a connection portion of the two connectors when they are in the first positional relationship. A breaking portion breaks an ink film formed within an inner space of the wall member. The ink film is formed when the main ink tank side connector moves with respect to the sub ink tank side connector from the first positional relationship to the second positional relationship. The breaking portion breaks the ink film in a state where at least a part of the ink film exists within the wall member.
