    Abstract: A liquid discharge device includes a discharge section that discharges a liquid, a storage section, a transmission electrode provided at a first surface, a reception electrode provided at a second surface, a drive circuit that drives the transmission electrode, and a detection circuit that receives a reception signal from the reception electrode. The storage section is configured to store the liquid between the first surface and the second surface. The detection circuit includes a peak detection circuit that detects a peak value of the reception signal, a discharge switch provided at an output of the peak detection circuit, and a detection signal output circuit. The detection signal output circuit outputs a detection signal for detecting a residual quantity of the liquid stored in the storage section based on the output of the peak detection circuit. The discharge switch is switched from on to off before a detection operation of the detection circuit.
