    Abstract: An image forming apparatus such as an electrophotographic copying machine uses a driven light-transmitting endless belt-like photosensitive body (belt). A charging unit charges the belt and a latent image is then formed on a front side of the belt. Thereafter, a toner image is developed on the belt for transfer to a sheet. Discharge and image erasing are provided on the back side of the belt. An electrically conductive wiping member contacts the back surface of the belt to clean contaminant therefrom.
