  • Patent number: 6099766
Abstract: A preform molding method and apparatus which can utilize a part of an injection mold to crystallize a neck of a preform. A rotary disc includes a plurality of neck cavity molds. An injection molding station, first heating station, second heating station and cooling/removing station are located at the respective positions where the neck cavity molds stops. The injection molding station injection molds a preform having a neck. The preform is sequentially conveyed the first and second heating stations while being held by neck cavity molds at the neck. Each of the heating stations heats the neck cavity molds so that the neck of the preform is heated up to a temperature of crystallization. Thereafter, the cooling/removing station cools the neck cavity molds. After the cooling step, the preforms are released and removed from the neck cavity molds. Thereafter, the neck cavity molds are returned to the injection molding station.

  • Patent number: 5424022
Abstract: An injection stretch blow molding method blow molds a preform into a hollow member while maintaining the preform at a temperature provided by an injection molding step. The method circulatively conveys neck mold support plates each for supporting and conveying a neck mold holding the neck portion of the hollow member or preform through working stations of M in number (M.gtoreq.3) including at least injection molding and blow molding stations. The total number N of neck mold support plates is set to be 2.ltoreq.N<M. The neck mold support plates are conveyed among the working stations other than the injection molding station within an injection molding time T for which an injection molding step is carried out using a neck mold support plate placed in the injection molding station. Before elapse of the injection molding time T, a neck mold support plate, which has ejected the molded hollow member, is caused to wait at a station before the injection molding step.

  • Patent number: 5362437
Abstract: The present invention provides a blow molding process having the steps of conveying preforms to a blow molding stage while holding the preform by two rows of supporting plates, placing the preforms in two rows of blowing molds disposed corresponding to the supporting plates, blow molding the preform into hollow containers when tile blowing molds are in their closed positions, thereafter opening the blowing molds to remove the molded containers therefrom. On carrying out this blow molding process, the row pitch between the supporting plates is changed between one when the blowing molds are opened and another when the blowing molds are in the other conditions. By utilizing this process and an apparatus for carrying out the process, the row pitch between the supporting plates is not required to maintain the maximum pitch when the blowing molds are opened. Thus, the blow molding system may be reduced in size and occupying area.

  • Patent number: 5213822
Abstract: An injection stretch blow molding apparatus performs a cycle of molding steps by circulating a plurality of neck mold sets for holding the neck portions of preforms. In a first portion of the operating sequence, a neck mold used in the injection molding stage to mold a preform, is conveyed from one end of a horizontal path of movement for conveying said neck mold to the stretch blow molding stage disposed at the other end of the horizontal path of movement. In a second portion of the operation sequence a neck mold, from which a blow molded product has been ejected in the ejection stage, offset vertically from the middle of the horizontal path of movement, is returned back to the injection molding stage, which is empty, through a vertical path of movement connecting the horizontal path of movement with the ejection stage and through the horizontal path of movement, after the first portion of the operating sequence has started.
