  • Publication number: 20060103246
Abstract: An automotive alternator includes a rotary shaft, a pulley, a stator, a rotor, and a magnetic fluctuation suppressor. The pulley is provided on the rotary shaft to transmit rotating power from an engine to the rotary shaft. The stator includes a stator winding. The rotor is mounted on the rotary shaft and configured to provide a first rotating magnetic field to the stator. The magnetic fluctuation suppressor includes a magnetic body and a magnetic source. The magnetic body is mounted on the rotary shaft such that the magnetic body is rotatable along with the rotary shaft at a rotational speed different from that of the rotary shaft. The magnetic source is fixed to the rotary shaft so as to create a second rotating magnetic field which induces a magnetic attraction between the magnetic body and the magnetic source, by which fluctuations in rotational movement of the rotary shaft are suppressed.

  • Publication number: 20060064197
Abstract: There is provided a method and apparatus for designing a rolling bearing provided with components including rolling elements, an outer ring, and an inner ring which come into contact with each other. First, it is determined whether or not adiabatic shear bands have a potential for occurrence within at least one of the components, due to the fact that stress is applied to the components, thus causing high deformation rates in the at least one of the components to cause an unstable plastic phenomenon that brings about an adiabatic shear deformation state within the at least one of the components. Then an estimation is made such that brittle flaking resulting from the adiabatic shear bands have a potential for occurrence within the at least one of the components, when it is determined that the adiabatic shear bands have a potential for occurrence.

  • Publication number: 20060035736
Abstract: The engine belt-driven system includes a plurality of auxiliaries including a vehicle generator, and a V-ribbed belt transmitting torque from a vehicle engine to said plurality of said auxiliaries. The vehicle generator is provided with a dynamic absorber having an inertia moment smaller than an inertia moment of a rotor of said vehicle generator. The dynamic absorber may be mounted to an end surface of the rotor.

  • Publication number: 20050212368
Abstract: An AC generator has negative pole-side rectifier devices press-fitted to a holder fin so as to dispose a bottom face of the rectifier device on a surface of the holder fin. The holder fin is disposed in such a manner that the bottom face of the rectifier device faces a rear frame of the AC generator. A clearance is formed between the rear frame and the bottom face through which the cooling wind for the rectifier device flows. The rear frame is provided with a slant face on its outer wall face for inducing the cooling wind introduced through an opening of the protection cover of the AC generator to the rectifier devices. Thus, the cooling wind induced by the slant face can hit on the bottom face of the rectifier devices directly, so as to cool the rectifier device well.

  • Publication number: 20050216240
Abstract: In a design method for a belt transmission system, tensile forces between pulleys are calculated from a total layout of the belt transmission system, such as a spring constant of a belt, a distance between the pulleys, an initial tensile force, a driving force for the respective pulleys to be calculated from a load of the respective pulleys, and so on. A coefficient of static friction is calculated from the tensile forces at the pulling and un-pulling sides and a contact angle. Then the coefficient of the static friction is compared with a maximum coefficient of the static friction, and it is determined that no slip occurs when the coefficient of the static friction is smaller than the maximum coefficient of the static friction.

  • Patent number: 6870288
Abstract: In a vehicle alternator having a stator, a rotor, and frames, a disc group is fixed to an axial end surface of a magnetic pole core of the rotor for creating the flow of cooling air. The disc group includes a plurality of discs layered with gaps between them. The disc group is disposed rotatable with the rotor. When the disc group rotates with the rotor, cooling air flows in a radially outward direction along the disc surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20040155540
Abstract: In a vehicle ac generator, a regulator that controls output voltage is mounted to a connector case. The connector case is constructed of a common connector and an individual connector. The common connector includes internal terminals that connect the regulator with internal circuits of such as a rectifying device and a rotor. The individual connector includes external terminals that receive and transmit electric information from and to external circuits. The common connector and the individual connector have intermediate terminals that contact with each other. Further, the common connector and the individual connector have engaging portion to engage with each other. The common connector can be shared with individual connectors having different shapes.

  • Publication number: 20040051409
Abstract: A small-diameter fin and a large-diameter fin, each extending in a direction normal to an axial direction of a rotor, are disposed at both sides of a terminal base so as to be overlapped in the axial direction of the rotor. The small-diameter fin is disposed far from the rotor compared with the large-diameter fin. The small-diameter fin is provided with a plurality of independent ribs each protruding in the axial direction of the rotor and extending in a radial direction of the rotor from or along an opening periphery of the receiving hole of the rectifying element.

  • Publication number: 20040041476
Abstract: A rotor and a stator are contained in a housing composed of front and rear frames, and a rectifier is mounted on the rear frame and covered with a rear cover having axial and radial openings. A minus heatsink plate having cooling fins extending in the axial direction is disposed to face the radial openings, forming radial air passages, and another air passage is formed between the minus heatsink plate and the rear frame. Cooling air introduced from the radial openings flows through the cooling fins and through the passage between the minus heatsink plate and the rear frame. Thus, efficiency for cooling the rectifier is enhanced.
