  • Publication number: 20110028261
Abstract: An automatic transmission includes first to third single-pinion planetary gearsets. The second ring gear and third sun gear are coupled to the first carrier and first ring gear respectively to constitute first and second rotor units. Input and output shafts are coupled to the second sun gear and third ring gear respectively. A first clutch selectively couples the first sun gear to the first carrier. A second clutch selectively couples the second sun gear to the third carrier. A third clutch selectively couples the second carrier to the second rotor unit. A fourth clutch selectively couples the second carrier to the third carrier. A first brake selectively holds the first sun gear stationary. A second brake selectively holds the third carrier stationary. At least eight forward gear ratios and one reverse gear ratio are obtained by simultaneous application of three of the clutches and brakes.

  • Publication number: 20050115790
Abstract: An installation structure of an electromagnetic multiple-disk clutch device having an electromagnet and a multiple-disk clutch pack having drive and driven plates and arranged radially outside of the electromagnet, includes a stationary housing portion accommodating therein the electromagnetic multiple-disk clutch device. An engaging member is attached to an electromagnet-coil casing of the electromagnet, and extends radially outwards from the electromagnet-coil casing. A radial length of the engaging member is dimensioned so that the outermost end of the engaging member is laid outside of the outermost portion of the multiple-disk clutch pack. Also provided is an engaging-member retainer formed in the stationary housing portion and brought into engagement with the engaging member when assembling the electromagnetic multiple-disk clutch device, for preventing rotary motion of the electromagnet and for positioning the electromagnet with respect to the stationary housing portion.

  • Publication number: 20040055800
Abstract: A drive apparatus for a vehicle, the vehicle being comprised of an engine, a motor-generator capable of starting the engine as well as generating power, a battery connected to the motor generator, and a clutch disposed between the motor-generator and a transmission. The drive apparatus is comprised of a damper connected to the rear of the engine, a starter motor connected to the engine, and a control system which effects idle-stop control when a set of conditions is met including oil temperature being within a predetermined range. The motor-generator starts the engine instead of the starter motor only when the engine is being restarted at the end of idle-stop control. Engine rotation flows from the engine first through the damper and then through the motor-generator before flowing to the clutch and then to the transmission.

  • Patent number: 6698562
Abstract: A coupling for a vehicle includes a pilot clutch 15, a main clutch 13, a pressing system 21 and a coupling mechanism 17. The pilot clutch 15 generates a pilot torque and is operated by operating means 19. The main clutch 13 connects torque members 11 and 9 and transmits transmitted torque. The coupling mechanism 17 operated by the pilot torque converts the pilot torque into a pressing force for coupling the main clutch 13 via the pressing system 21 by use of a cam thrust force thereof. The main clutch 13 is disposed outside the pilot clutch 15 in a radial direction, and respective members of the pressing system 21 are mutually positioned and designed to move unitarily in a pressing direction, thus sliding portions caused by the main clutch 13 is connecting and disconnecting are limited to being on a side of the main clutch 13.
