  • Patent number: 5794170
Abstract: A downhill coasting situation detecting device for an automotive vehicle comprises a sensor for detecting an opening degree of a throttle valve for an engine of the automotive vehicle, a first derivative calculating device for calculating a first derivative of the vehicle speed, a second derivative calculating device for calculating a second derivative of the vehicle speed, and a downhill coasting situation determining device for determining that the automotive vehicle being in a downhill coasting situation in which the vehicle being coasting on a downhill road in accordance with a condition in which the opening degree of the throttle valve is zero and the first derivative of vehicle speed is positive and besides the second derivative of vehicle speed is nearly equal to zero. With the downhill coasting situation detecting device, the downhill coasting situation can be exactly detected, so that e.g.

  • Patent number: 5673584
Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for rolling a rod as a starting material and producing a wire of 5 mm or smaller diameter, the method and apparatus using a continuous rolling mill comprising a plurality of round-grooved four-roll stands arranged in tandem, wherein the grooved four-roll is displaced between adjacent rolling stands by 45 degrees relative to each other around the pass line and the center-to-center distance between adjacent rolling stands measured in the pass line direction is not greater than 50 times the diameter of the rod. The front end portion of the rod is fed at slow speed into the continuous rolling mill, the front end portion being guided by a front pipe to the center of the round groove, and the front end portion is wound on a coiler.

  • Patent number: 5533370
Abstract: According to the rolling method and the apparatus to be used for its execution of the invention, by rolling a tube to be rolled by using four rolls possessing roll grooves for forming a caliber in a shape of having a relief portion, cold reducing or cold stretch reducing is done continuously without causing wall thickness deviation, and by sizing the rolled tube material by a die disposed at the exit side, the dimensional precision and yield of rolled tubes may be enhanced by a small number of stands.

  • Patent number: 5527235
Abstract: A transmission-controlling system capable of controlling a transmission of a vehicle having both an automatic transmission (AT) and an anti-lock brake system (lBS), without damaging the ABS function is disclosed, in which both a change-speed graph for normal operation and a change-speed graph for acquiring automatic engine brake are incorporated in an AT controller and, when a signal noticing that ABS is in operation is not given from an ABS controller, the AT controller functions to shift gear speed according to the change-speed graph for aquiring automatic engine brake to thereby attain automatic engine brake and, when the signal noticing that ABS is out of operation, the AT controller functions to shift gear speed according to the change-speed graph for normal operation. In the latter case, the automatic engine brake is not acquired, and hence the ABS function is not possibly damaged, and the vehicle does not receive a severe shock.

  • Patent number: 5265446
Abstract: The control apparatus of the present invention is used for a washing machine in which a photosensor having a light emitting element and a light receiving element opposite thereto, detects the degree of light transmission in washing water, and in which, based on variations of the degree of light transmission in washing water thus detected, the respective steps of washing, rinsing and draining are controlled. Correction is made such that the photosensor presents a predetermined sensitivity to set a current which flows in the light emitting element, after which a washing operation is started. After drainage, when the next water supply operation is started and the level of water thus supplied reaches a predetermined level within a predetermined period of time, it is judged that washing water used at the previous washing remains in a washing tank. Then, control is made such that no adjustment is made of the sensitivity of the photosensor and a standard current flows in the light emitting element.

  • Patent number: 4959985
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a metallic tube with a spiral fin for use as a heat transfer tube of a heat exchanger and the like. A solid metallic bar or metallic elementary hollow bar provided with a small hole is supplied to an inclined rolling mill having a plurality of rolls provided with a plurality of annular grooves formed on an outer circumferential surface thereof, and the solid metallic bar or metallic elementary hollow bar is worked into a pierced hollow bar by piercing rolling by means of a piercing plug and at the same time a fin is formed on an outer circumferential surface of the pierced hollow bar to integrate the fin with a body of the tube. Accordingly, the piercing rolling and the formation of the fin on the outer circumferential surface of the tube can be carried out at the same time, so that the manufacturing process can be remarkably shortened and the productivity can be high.
