A scanned image is accepted as an object to be processed by a touch operation to the scanned image. By moving the touched position to the model icon and releasing the touch, an editing process by the model icon is accepted. The model icon is displayed with the scanned image overlapped thereon as the result of the editing process.

Abstract: A copy and facsimile multifunction peripheral includes an operating unit on the top of a housing on the front side thereof. The operating unit includes a dot matrix display composed of light-emitting elements, a light-transmissive display unit cover that covers a display area of the dot matrix display and constitutes a portion of the contour of the upper surface of the housing, and a transparent touch panel sheet arranged on the surface of the display unit cover so as to cover at least a portion of the display area of the dot matrix display. An operation control unit provided in the copy and facsimile multifunction peripheral displays a predetermined pattern on the dot matrix display and, when the touch panel sheet senses a touch on the pattern display area, controls the apparatus to carry out the operation corresponding to the pattern.

Abstract: On an upper side of a protruding portion provided on a front surface of a paper cassette, a first gripper is disposed so as to enable a user to place a finger on a first pressure portion of the first gripper and pull out the paper cassette easily. Compared to a paper cassette with a first gripper disposed on an underside of a protruding portion, the first gripper is provided on the upper side of the protruding portion in the paper cassette of the present invention such that the user can easily pull out the paper cassette without bending over deeply.
