  • Patent number: 9732720
Abstract: In an engine starting apparatus, a starter control unit is configured to, upon command to start the engine, put a starter in a drive ON state to begin cranking of the engine and then put the starter in a drive OFF state at a predetermined timing. The starter control unit is configured to, when acceleration is requested within a predetermined time period from the command to start the engine, keep the starter in the drive ON state even after the time when the starter would be put in the drive OFF state without the acceleration request within the predetermined time period, and drive the starter to torque-assist the engine, thereby performing an assist mode in which both the engine) and the starter serve as drive sources for driving a vehicle.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 18, 2014
Date of Patent: August 15, 2017
    Assignee: DENSO CORPORATION
Inventors: Tatsuya Fujita, Kouichi Oosawa, Mitsuhiro Murata

  • Patent number: 7832194
Abstract: In a device for restraining the deterioration of a catalytic apparatus of an internal combustion engine of the present invention, when the temperature of the catalytic apparatus arranged in the engine exhaust system is higher than a predetermined temperature in a vehicle deceleration, a fuel-cut of the engine is prohibited and a first motor-generator MG2 connected with the vehicle drive shaft 6 is operated as a generator to charge an electrical accumulator 8.

  • Patent number: 4715184
Abstract: A supercharged engine knock control system of the class in which spark advance is retarded by a retard correction value varying in response to an occurrence of knocking is improved in such a manner that the retard correction value computed under engine conditions which do not accurately reflect the octane rating of the fuel is not taken into account in determining the boost pressure control. To this end, the knock control system comprises a memory for storing predetermined engine load threshold values that vary depending on engine speed. Boost pressure is lowered when the actual engine load is greater than the engine load threshold value and when the retard correction value is greater than a reference value.
