  • Patent number: 5695367
Abstract: A connector for a wedge-base electrical component (e.g., a wedge-base bulb) includes an electrically insulative base and an electrically insulative holder attached to the base and defining an interior socket space therewithin for receiving the wedge-base of the electrical component. A pair of U-shaped electrically conductive clamp elements is positioned in the interior socket space of the holder. The U-shaped clamps resiliently hold the wedge-base of the electrical component and establish an electrical connection therebetween. Each of the clamp elements includes a connection piece for connection to a bus bar so as to establish an electrical circuit connection with the electrical component resiliently held by the clamp elements. The insulative holder includes a pair of opposed resilient support tabs extending upwardly from the holder so as to engage the electrical component at a location above the wedge-base of the electrical component.

  • Patent number: 5597329
Abstract: A connector component for a wedge-base lamp includes an electrically insulative base having an upright inverted T-shaped electrically insulated frame member which defines a central interior rectangular space for receiving a wedge-base of a lamp. The insulated frame member also has an opposed pair of lateral shoulder pockets which open into a lower portion of the central interior rectangular space. A pair of opposed bulb guides integral with the frame member are disposed substantially midway of the interior rectangular space. The opposed bulb guides each define a respective arcuate concavity for receiving a portion of the wedge-base of the lamp therein so as to provide a holder for the wedge-base lamp. The bulb guides further define a pair of lateral socket spaces within the interior rectangular space of the frame member and each have a projection member extending into the socket space. A pair of U-shaped electrically conductive clamp elements are positioned in a respective one of the lateral socket spaces.

  • Patent number: 5558543
Abstract: A connector attachment component for a lamp is provided with a bulb holder which includes an electrically insulative base member defining a central interior rectangular space for receiving a lamp base therewithin. A pair of electrically conductive bulb connectors have resilient generally U-shaped clamp elements for resiliently holding the lamp base, and a connection piece for connection to an electrical circuit. The pair of connectors are positioned parallel to one another within the central interior rectangular space such that each of the clamp elements forwardly extends to receive the lamp base of a lamp when inserted thereinto. An electrically conductive reflecting plate forwardly extends from an upper surface of the bulb holder so as to be in covering relationship to the lamp when the lamp base thereof is resiliently held by the clamp elements of the connectors.

  • Patent number: 5531613
Abstract: A connector assembly for electrical components includes an electrically insulative base member having a generally square tubular form so as to establish a lengthwise interior space having open forward and rearward ends. The base member has a rearward constricted portion with a lesser widthwise dimension as compared to a forward base portion so as to establish at least one lateral recess rearwardly of the forward base portion of the base member. At least one electrically conductive connector having a pair of opposed forwardly projecting resilient conducting clamps is inserted into the rearward end of, and positioned within, the interior space of the base member so that a connection end of an electrical component may be inserted into the forward end of the interior space and held between the conducting clamps of the connector.

  • Patent number: 5458512
Abstract: A connector for mounting and grounding electrical components to an underlying electrically conductive support structure by a mounting screw includes an electrically insulating mounting block which defines at least one mounting hole, and an electrically conductive bus bar which is operatively associated with the mounting block. The bus bar is bent to establish a first leg which is sandwiched between the electrically insulating mounting block and the electrically conductive support structure, and a second leg which defines a flat surface which is disposed within the mounting hole of the electrically insulating mounting block. At least one bent piece is attached to the second leg and bent so as to bound at least an interior surface portion of the mounting hole defined in the electrically insulating mounting block.

  • Patent number: 5389010
Abstract: Connectors for electrical components include a support base having an edge which defines an open space, and an electrically insulated socket member connected to the support base within the defined open space for holding and establishing electrical connection with the electrical component. The socket member includes opposed pair of side walls, an upper wall and a lower wall which collectively establish an open-ended interior space. At least one clamp connector is disposed in a rearward end of the interior space and is coupled to the socket member for receiving a terminal portion of an electrical component inserted into a forward end of the interior space so as to connect the electrical component electrically to an external circuit. Opposed pairs of separated upper and lower locking tabs are formed on either the side walls of said socket member or the support base, and project outwardly therefrom.

  • Patent number: 5382767
Abstract: Push-button switches include a housing which defines an interior space and an opposed pair of longitudinally oriented recessed channels. At least upper regions of the recessed channels are open to said defined interior space. A pair of elongate fixed contact strips are each positioned within a respective one of the defined recessed channels, the fixed contact strips being of a sufficient length so that a terminal end portion thereof is disposed in the open upper region of the recessed channel to thereby be exposed to the interior space of the housing. In this regard, the housing preferably includes interior cover walls covering a major extent of the recessed channels so that the terminal end portions of the fixed contact strips positioned therewithin are exposed to the defined housing interior space.

  • Patent number: 5201410
Abstract: Push-button switches are provided with a housing having opposed pairs of side walls defining an interior space, and an opposed pair of fixed contact members. A push-button assembly is received within the interior space of the housing for reciprocal movements between extended and retracted positions. The push-button assembly including a pair of opposed side windows having lower extents established by a bridge wall. A spring exerts a bias force to move the push-button assembly into its extended position. A generally inverted V-shaped slide contact member is movable with the push-button assembly between its extended and retracted positions, and includes a pair of resilient legs each having an outwardly curved contact region.

  • Patent number: 5108296
Abstract: A connector for mounting and grounding electrical components to an underlyuing electrically conductive support structure by a mounting screw includes an electrically insulating mounting block which defines at least one mounting hole. A bent, electrically conductive bus bar having upper and lower legs is operatively associated with the mounting block such that a terminal end portion of the lower leg extends from the mounting block so as to contact the mounting screw when the connector is mounted to the support structure. Thus, grounding of the bus bar to the support structure occurs through the mounting screw. A reinforcement ring may be provided for the mounting hole which is positionally retained therewithin by various structures. Thus, reliable mounting and grounding of an electrical component may be achieved by the connectors of this invention, while minimizing the risk that excessive tightening of the mounting screw will result in breakage of the mounting block in the vicinity of the mounting hole.

  • Patent number: 5108314
Abstract: Connector assemblies for electrical components include a base frame having opposing side walls and opposed pairs of interior walls which are disposed parallel to the side walls. The interior walls define a mounting hole which is sized and configured to receive an individual one of the holders. The interior walls are interiorly spaced from their respective side walls so as to establish a relief slot therebetween. The side walls of the base frame are provided with vertically separated locking tabs and mounting flanges. During mounting of the connector assembly to the supporting structure, the locking tabs will be inwardly resiliently displaced until such time that they each clear the edge which defines the mounting space in the supporting structure for the connector assembly. At that time, the locking tabs will resiliently return to their "normal" condition. As a result, the supporting structure will be lockably positioned between the vertically separated locking tabs and mounting flanges.
