  • Patent number: 7038158
Abstract: A wire cutting electric discharge machine has a high frequency voltage applying unit that applies a high frequency voltage and a direct current voltage applying unit applies a direct current voltage to the gap between the wire electrode and the workpiece. A detecting unit detects a low frequency component of a voltage occurring in the gap as a result of the electric discharge. The apparatus controls a feed rate based upon the state of the gap determined by the detecting unit.
