    Abstract: ISSUE To reduce operating noise and further improve durability in a cushioning structure for a sprocket used in a roller chain or bush chain. MEANS OF RESOLUTION Annular first and second cushion rings 2, 3 are provided in such a way as to be able to slide against each other around grooves 10a in a sprocket 1. The first cushion ring 2 consists of a single wire and has a wave-like shape comprising a plurality of projections 2a. The second cushion ring 3 consists of a single wire and has a circular shape running around the outer circumference of the sprocket 1. When a roller chain 5 meshes with the sprocket, the rollers 50 make contact with the second cushion ring 3 causing the second cushion ring 3 to elastically deform, then causing the first cushion ring 2 to elastically deform. At this point, the first and second cushion rings 2, 3 slide against each other. As a result, the impact noise of the rollers 50 and the sprocket teeth 10 is effectively reduced.

    Abstract: A power transmission chain includes a plurality of links and a bending-restraining mechanism. The bending-restraining mechanism includes a wire extending in a lengthwise direction along the chain and engaging at least three adjacent joints of the chain. The wire is formed such that it elastically deforms when an inside link rotates around the inner joint in a first direction from a linearly extending state, the wire thereby applying a bending resistance to the inside link during articulation of the chain. In one embodiment, the wire includes at least one curved section clipped around at least a majority of a circumference of at least one joint. In another embodiment, the wire is formed such that a predetermined bias due to a bending deformation of the wire is applied to the inside link when the chain is extended linearly.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a link plate for a silent chain that can introduce and maintain adequate lubricant in the pin aperture without decreasing the strength of the link plate. A silent chain (1) is comprised of a plurality of link plates (2) each having a pair of teeth (22) and pin apertures (21). The link plates (2) are interlaced in the lateral and longitudinal direction and pivotably interconnected to each other via connecting pins (3) inserted into the apertures (21). At least one groove (25) is formed at only the tooth (22) region on at least either one of an outer surface or an inner surface of the link plate (2). The groove (25) extends from the tip (22A) of the tooth (22) to the pin aperture (21). A width of the groove (25) becomes gradually wide toward the tip (22A) of the tooth (22) from the pin aperture (21).

    Abstract: A chain comprises a plurality of inside links, guide links, and connecting pins. The inside links each have a pair of apertures, a pin aperture centerline, and teeth. The inside links are interleaved and connected into a series of rows. The guide links have a pair of apertures and a pin aperture centerline and are placed outside of outermost rows of the inside links. The connecting pins are received by the apertures and extend across the rows of the chain, connecting the inside and the guide links. At least one of the links has a central protrusion protruding in a thickness direction and the other links adjacent to the link with the central protrusion have shoulder portions that contact the protrusion. When the chain is in a back-bending state, frictional force is imparted by the central protrusion to the adjacent links with the shoulder portions, such that bending resistance occurs.

    Abstract: In a silent chain, guide link plates are installed in a row along the sides of the link plates. The guide link plates are provided with central openings having rounded corners. The width of the inner beam portion of the central opening is limited by the inner edge of the central opening and the inner edge of the guide link. The width of the outer beam portion of the central opening is limited by the outer edge of the opening and the outer edge of the guide link plate. The width of the inner beam portion is equal to or less than the width of the outer beam portion. Alternatively, the guide link plates are provided with slits extending from the inner edge, and the inner edges of said slits are curved.
