  • Patent number: 7381092
Abstract: A connector having juxtaposed contact modules (6). In each contact module, signal contacts (16), a first ground plate (14), and a second ground plate (15) are held by an insulator (28). The first and second ground plates comprise plate sections (14a, 15a) each having a first surface and a second surface on the opposite side of the first surface, and the first surfaces face each other. Pairs of protrusions (14b, 15b) are formed at intervals on the second surfaces of the plate sections. The first and second ground plates are molded in the insulator and integrated together. The insulator has recesses (29) corresponding to the intervals of the protrusions and signal contacts are disposed in the recesses.

  • Patent number: 7361041
Abstract: In a connector to be coupled to a housing and for coupling a mating connector in a predetermined direction, a connector element is held by a sub module which is held by the housing to be slidable in the predetermined direction. The sub module includes a floating spring portion. The floating spring portion includes a contacting portion for being brought into contact with the housing and an operated portion connected to the contacting portion. Responsive to movement of the mating connector in the predetermined direction, the operated portion separates the contacting portion from the housing.

  • Patent number: 7165985
Abstract: A connector apparatus includes a first and a second connector connected and disconnected to each other with relative movement in a fitting direction and a separating direction, respectively. In the first connector, a lever member is coupled to a base member and a housing which are relatively movable in the fitting and separating direction. The lever member includes an axis portion rotatably supported by the base member, a first cam portion spaced from the axis portion, and a second cam portion formed at a rotating end. The housing has a first cam-operated portion cooperated with the first cam portion to rotate the lever member following the movement thereof. The second connector has a second cam-operated portion engaged with and separated from the second cam portion following the rotation of the lever member.

  • Patent number: 7097506
Abstract: A contact module includes a plurality of conductive contacts and an insulator retaining the contacts. Each of the contacts includes a contact portion at one end thereof, a terminal portion at the other end thereof, and an intermediate portion extending between the contact portion and the terminal portion. The intermediate portion has a positioning-subject portion. The insulator includes grooves each receiving therein the intermediate portion of the corresponding contact, positioning portions each positioning the positioning-subject portion of the corresponding contact, and retaining portions each retaining the intermediate portion of the corresponding contact. The positioning-subject portions of the contacts are press-fitted into the positioning portions of the insulator so that the contacts are provisionally retained by the insulator. By the use of the retaining portions, the contacts are finally retained by the insulator.
