  • Patent number: 6411198
Abstract: A portable terminal device of a calling party individually sets a sounding pattern to be used for reporting an incoming call, and a called party is informed of the thus-set sounding pattern beforehand. As a result, when the terminal device of the called party makes the thus-set sounding pattern, the terminal device enables the user to immediately specify the calling party. In addition to sound, blinks of light, vibration of a vibrator, or the color of backlight can be used solely or in combination two of more. Further, so long as the portable terminal device is provided with display means capable of displaying characters, in addition to the incoming call reporting means, a simple message can be indicated on the portable terminal device. Consequently, the called party can immediately ascertain the nature of the call without directly talking with the calling party through the portable terminal device.

  • Patent number: 6385466
Abstract: A portable terminal device including display means 40 for indicating characters and figures, light-emitting means 31 and 32 for emitting exposing light to be used as backlight of the display means, drive means 21 and 22 for activating the light-emitting means, and control means 11 for controlling the drive means, wherein the light-emitting means emits exposed light rays having at least two wavelengths; the control means controls the drive means according to the content of the information to be transmitted to the user in such a way that the wavelength of the exposing light originating from the light-emitting means are changed, thereby enabling the color of backlight of the display means to be changed according to the content of the information to be transmitted. Since a user can ascertain information by means of backlight color, operations required to read characters and figures indicated on the display means can be simplified. This function produces a great effect particularly in darkness.

  • Publication number: 20010028338
Abstract: Temperature measuring unit measures an ambient temperature and outputs a measurement result to control unit. The control unit outputs information for optimally setting the number of boosting stages of boosting unit as a control signal to driving circuit. Upon receipt of the control signal, the driving circuit stores the information in storage unit, sets the number of boosting stages of the boosting unit according to the information stored in the storage unit, and supplies a driving voltage to liquid crystal display unit. If the ambient temperature is changed, the number of boosting stages of the boosting unit is reset in the procedure so that the consumed current of the whole liquid crystal display device can be optimized.

  • Patent number: 5584003
Abstract: A control system for controlling a cache tag memory has an address conversion device which includes an associative storage for storing logical addresses, a random access memory for storing physical addresses, and a hit-signal generating circuit for generating a hit signal, a word selecting signal and at least one control signal. The hit signal indicates that a hit has occurred between a logical address stored in the associative storage and an input logical address. The address conversion device controls the reading operation of a tag address stored in the cache tag memory by using the control signal generated by the hit-signal generating circuit in synchronization with a word selecting signal used in the reading operation of a physical address stored in the random access memory such that the physical address and the tag address are read at substantially the same time.
