Patent number: 8717912Abstract: In order to carry out high-speed packet communications using a large-volume transmission channel like an E-DCH, uplink communication quality must be good. However, in a state in which a link imbalance occurs, a mobile station cannot estimate the uplink communication quality from downlink communication quality. Therefore, the mobile station calculates a path loss from the setting power of a common pilot channel which is notified from a base station, and the received power of the common pilot channel received thereby, and also estimates the received power in the base station on the basis of this path loss. The mobile station further judges the uplink communication quality by estimating the SIR in the base station by using the interference power notified from the base station and the estimated received power.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 2005Date of Patent: May 6, 2014Assignee: Mitsubishi Electric CorporationInventors: Hideji Wakabayashi, Koutarou Sugisawa

Patent number: 8699331Abstract: According to a communications method according to the present invention, data is transmitted from a base station to two or more terminals via a common channel, and transmission power, with which the data is transmitted from the base station to the two or more terminals, is controlled according to a reception state of at least one of the two or more terminals. Furthermore, the terminal transmits reception capability information at a time of selection combining, and at least one of the two or more base stations receives the reception capability information at the time of selective combining and notifies the reception capability information to a radio network controller (RNC) which controls the two or more base stations.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2008Date of Patent: April 15, 2014Assignee: BlackBerry LimitedInventors: Kazuhito Niwano, Hideji Wakabayashi, Koutarou Sugisawa

Patent number: 7519105Abstract: It is an object to propose a way to assign channelization that is applicable to a case in which the number of multiplexing of DPDCHs (Dedicated Physical Data Channels) is at least five for overshoot of HPSK (Hybrid Phase Shift Keying) modulation. Assignment of channelization codes is set as follows. For all possible combinations of channelization assigned to given data channels and control channels, a transition ?1 from the first chip to the second chip and a transition ?2 from the third chip to the fourth chip are obtained. For each transition, 0 degrees or 180 degrees is desirable, and 90 degrees is the worst, so that a combination is obtained in which squares of sine of respective transitions become the smallest. Consequently, by obtaining a combination that makes sin2 ?1+sin2 ?2 the smallest, the one that is close to the most desirable combination can be obtained.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2005Date of Patent: April 14, 2009Assignee: Mitsubishi Denki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Koutarou Sugisawa, Hideji Wakabayashi
