  • Patent number: 5423649
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting and removing a sheet-bag-like package material from a packaged object which comprises a stack of can ends packaged in the package material. The apparatus comprises a feed unit for feeding the package object along a feeding path, a cutting unit for cutting open a slackened portion of the package material, a removing unit for removing the cut-open package material from the packaged object; and a pushing mechanism for pushing the packaged object toward a stationary stopper disposed at the removing unit. The pushing mechanism includes a movable presser member for pressing a trailing end of the packaged object, a cylinder actuator having a cylinder and a piston, and a spring. One of the cylinder and the piston is connected to the movable presser member and the other of the cylinder and the piston is connected to a stationary member fixedly provided at the removing unit through the spring.

  • Patent number: 5401106
Abstract: The invention includes a bearing assembly having concentric inner and outer races and roller elements disposed therebetween. Seal members are disposed on either side of the races, flanking the roller elements. The outer race is provided with circumferential grooves adjacent to each axial face of the outer race. Annular urging members are fitted between the races, adjoining the seal members on the outer sides thereof, urging the seals into contact with the races. The outer circumferential edge of each urging member extends into one of the grooves in the outer race. The urging members are biased such that the inner circumferential edge of each engages the adjacent seal and retains the inner race within the outer race in order to reduce wobble and vibration between the inner and outer races.

  • Patent number: 5355747
Abstract: A flywheel assembly comprises a first flywheel connectable an engine, a second flywheel, and an inter-flywheel viscous damping mechanism, providing viscous damping through a fluid of flywheel torsional vibrations. The second flywheel, is rotatably supported on the first flywheel and has a friction facing on which a friction material presses. The second flywheel includes an annular capturing channel provided rapidly inward of the friction facing for capturing fluid from leakage driven on the friction facing side by centrifugal force, and a plurality of through-holes, extending from the capturing channel to a space between the flywheels, for guiding fluid captured by the capturing channel to the space.

  • Patent number: 5353664
Abstract: In a torsional vibration damping device functioning in a torque transmission comprising an input rotation member, an output member, and drive/driven assemblies, viscous damping is effected in a structurally integral fluid chamber. The damping device includes a hydraulic damper essentially consisting in the viscous-fluid containing fluid chamber as formed by respective surfaces of the input rotation member and of the drive and driven assemblies. Torsional vibration damping is thus provided in the connection of the drive and driven assemblies.

  • Patent number: 5137407
Abstract: A threaded fastener having a recess or projection in a head for engagement with a jointing equipment is disclosed. The recess or projection is composed of a center portion and radial portions extending radially outward of circumference of the center portion. Each of the radial portions includes a pair of straight line section and a rounded corner to prevent stress concentration for providing substantial strength against press-molding and applied torque.

  • Patent number: 4486532
Abstract: At least one acryl or allyl monomer is polymerized in an aqueous suspension containing a fumarase-producing microorganism. The resultant immobilized fumarase-producing microorganism is contacted with bile acids or salts thereof. Then, the immobilized fumarase-producing microorganism is subjected to enzymatic reaction with fumaric acid or a salt thereof. L-Malic acid is prepared without the production of the by-product succinic acid.

  • Patent number: 4006660
Abstract: A fastener element has at its male portion a plurality of grooves whose cross sections each form a fractional circle and a plurality of lobes whose cross sections each form a segmental outline of a larger circle, the inner wall of each said groove being connected to the lobe through a wall portion whose cross section assumes a curved line like configuration. The center of the fractional circle is situated nearer to the center of the larger circle than a conjunction of two tangential lines allowed tangentially to contact the larger circle at the intersections of the larger circle and fractional circle. The curved line is connected with the outline of the fractional circle at a point at which a radial line extending from the center of the larger circle is allowed tangentially to contact the fractional circle, or at a point situated farther from the larger circle center than the first-mentioned point.
