Abstract: Embodiments include a timeout event management system that registers timeout events and checks for and corrects inaccuracies in timing caused by hibernation or system time changes. The timeout event management system may trigger an event after an intended delay time or at an intended expiration time. A handler program may be called in response to the triggered timeout. In an additional embodiment, the timeout system may track timeout events in a priority queue data structure.

Abstract: A system and method for maintaining version information. An identifier (“ID”) that identifies a collection of associated files is obtained. An index is generated that specifies the contents of the collection of associated files. The ID may be saved along with the index in a target version file to convey version information about the collection of associated files. Subsequently, the index may be extracted from the target version file to compare with a corresponding index extracted from a reference version file. The result of the comparison may be used to determine whether the contents of the collection of associated files match a reference.

Abstract: A system and method to implement a technique to compare a collection of files. A reference index is extracted from a reference version file. The reference index specifies contents of a reference directory at a binary level. A target index is extracted from a target version file. The target index specifies contents of a target directory at the binary level. The target index is compared against the reference index to determine whether the contents of the target directory match the contents of the reference directory.

Abstract: A system and method for updating an update module. A pair-update module is executed to update software on a processing system. The pair-update module includes an installation updater and a bootstrap updater. The installation updater applies installation updates to installation files of the processing system, while the bootstrap updater applies bootstrap updates to the installation updater.
