  • Publication number: 20120308956
Abstract: An ultrasonic dental instrument provides a hand piece with an ultrasonic generator communicating with a separable base and tip that when assembled provide mechanical rigidity and the conduction of ultrasonic energy from the ultrasonic generator to a distal portion of the tip but which may be separated for individual replacement and manufacture.

  • Publication number: 20110033822
Abstract: An endodontic instrument eliminates the need for conventional flutes by employing a tapered tip having an axially extending relief surface such as a flat permitting the passage of liquid and the ejection of debris from the tooth. In one embodiment, an abrasive surface of the tapered tip is produced by electrical discharge machining which provides randomly arrayed microscopic pits directly in the metallic surface of the instrument.

  • Publication number: 20090061385
Abstract: A monolithic dental implant is provided made from a material or materials having a elasticity moduli less than approximately 4 Msi. The materials can be either a polymer or a composite material having a polymer matrix and a fiber- or particulate-reinforced second phase. When subject to occlusive forces, the monolithic dental implant provides improved lateral transmission of the forces, resulting in a reduction in bone resorption. Additionally, because the dental implant is monolithic, it is not subject to the problems associated with bacteria collection and abrasive wear common to multi-component dental implants.

  • Publication number: 20080248444
Abstract: An ultrasonic endodontic tip is provided having an elastic modulus of less than 8 Msi. The low-modulus of the material provides the ultrasonic endodontic tip the ability to navigate a curved tooth canal during a root canal procedure and controllably remove the dentine around canal without excessively enlarging the canal. The tip can include an abrasive on at least a portion of the working surface of the tip.
