The method further includes identifying a return signal by at least partially removing from the output signal at least one of: the communicated signal and base line wander. In addition, the method includes establishing a synthesized impedance to the return signal.

The filter provides a transfer function that at least partially compensates for distortion of the input signal. The method also includes adjusting the filter to alter at least one of a zero and a pole of the transfer function based on at least one characteristic of the output signal.
