  • Patent number: 9338038
Abstract: Embodiments herein disclose an Interference Cancelling Block Modulation (ICBM), a new open-loop precoding scheme where each transmitter is assigned with a predetermined precoder which facilitates interference cancellation at the receivers. Only a finite set of precoders will be used, and they will be assigned to each transmitter in a pre-determined manner. Usually, interfering transmitters located adjacent to each other will have different precoders, and the same precoder can be reused by non-adjacent transmitters. The precoders are represented by N×K matrices and they expand the symbols in time and/or frequency by a factor of N/K while providing precoded sequences with low cross-correlation properties.

  • Patent number: 7333456
Abstract: A method and system for transmitting training information in a block transmission system is provided. The method includes transmitting a first information bearing unit by at least one transmit antenna. The method further includes transmitting a second information bearing unit by the at least one transmit antenna. The second information bearing unit is the first information bearing unit shifted by a frequency offset. As a result, the combination of the first information bearing unit and the second information bearing unit is substantially periodic. Further, the combination of the first information bearing unit and the second information bearing unit is one of preamble, midamble, or postamble.

  • Publication number: 20070217615
Abstract: A method and system for estimating channel frequency response at an ‘i’th pilot sub-carrier of a training symbol in a block transmission system is provided. The method comprises generating a matrix of pilot codes such that the number of rows of the matrix is equal to a block size (L+1), where L represents the number of adjacent pilot sub-carriers. A column of the matrix comprises the pilot codes corresponding to the adjacent pilot sub-carriers and the ‘i’th pilot sub-carrier of a signal. The number of columns of the matrix is approximately equal to the number of signals received by the receiver. The method comprises determining whether the matrix is invertible and calculates the channel frequency response at the ‘i’th pilot sub-carrier corresponding to the desired signal in response to determining whether the matrix is invertible.

  • Publication number: 20070217326
Abstract: Methods and systems for transmitting a modulated frame in a block transmission system and for decoding the modulated frame when received are provided. The block transmission system is a frequency reuse system. The transmission of a frame in a block transmission system includes modulating the frame using a modulation sequence to produce a modulated frame and transmitting the modulated frame. The modulation sequence is unknown to a receiver that will receive the modulated frame, and is representative of control information.

  • Publication number: 20070217527
Abstract: A method and system for determining channel response is provided. The method for determining a channel frequency response (CFR) in a block transmission system comprises performing an N? point Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT), where N? is a function of N and K, and N is approximately equal to the number of sub-carriers in a block, and K depends on the coherence bandwidth of the channel corresponding to the block.

  • Publication number: 20070217441
Abstract: A method and system for estimating Co-Channel Interference (CCI) at each pilot sub-carrier of each symbol in a frame of a block transmission system is provided. The method includes determining the CCI at each pilot sub-carrier of a predetermined number of symbols (L). The predetermined number of symbols is equal to the periodicity of the pilot pattern of the frame. The method includes using the CCI at each pilot sub-carrier of the predetermined number of symbols to estimate the CCI at each pilot sub-carrier of remaining symbols in the frame.
