  • Patent number: 4390402
Abstract: A process for regenerating spent seed materials used in magnethohydrodynamic power generation, such materials comprising an alkali metal carbonate and an alkali metal sulfate as the contaminant which process comprises the steps of introducing an aqueous solution of the spent seed materials into the acid zone of an electrodialysis cell, introducing an aqueous solution of carbon dioxide, an alkali metal carbonate, an alkalimetal bicarbonate or mixture thereof into the base zone of the cell, and thereafter passing a direct current through the cell producing an alkali metal carbonate in the base zone and an alkali metal bisulfate or sulfuric acid in the acid zone.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: June 28, 1983
    Assignee: Allied Corporation
Inventors: Krishnamurthy N. Mani, Frederick P. Chlanda
  • Patent number: 4389293
Abstract: An electrodialytic distillative process for recovery of anhydrous hydrogen fluoride from an aqueous solution of fluosilicic acid and hydrogen fluoride wherein the concentration of hydrogen fluoride in said solution is such that hydrogen fluoride cannot be recovered therefrom by distillation, which comprises subjecting the solution to electrodialysis thereby increasing the total acids concentration in said solution to equal to or greater than about 46 weight percent, and thereafter recovering anhydrous hydrogen fluoride by distillation.
