  • Patent number: 10856091
Abstract: An apparatus, including an external component of a medical device including an electromagnetic actuator configured such that static magnetic flux of the electromagnetic actuator removably retains the external component to a recipient thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 26, 2017
Date of Patent: December 1, 2020
    Assignee: Cochlear Limited
Inventors: Marcus Andersson, Johan Gustafsson, Kristian Gunnar Asnes
  • Patent number: 10848883
Abstract: An external component of a bone conduction device, including a vibrator and a platform configured to transfer vibrations from the vibrator to skin of the recipient, wherein the vibrator and platform are configured to quick connect and quick disconnect to and from, respectively, one another.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 16, 2019
Date of Patent: November 24, 2020
    Assignee: Cochlear Limited

  • Publication number: 20200236474
Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting when a device is placed into an operational position are disclosed. Upon determination that the device is in the operational position, one or more processes can be executed. Execution or initialization of the processes upon detection of the operational position provides for the determination of optimal settings than would otherwise be determined if the processes automatically executed before detection of the operational position. Further aspects of the present disclosure relate to determining when the device is no longer in an operational position upon which time the execution of the processes are terminated. The settings in place upon termination can be saved and reapplied the next time the device is in the operational position.
    Type: Application
    Filed: April 6, 2020
    Publication date: July 23, 2020
Inventors: Martin Evert Gustaf Hillbratt, Kristian Gunnar Asnes

  • Publication number: 20180124530
Abstract: A medical device prosthesis, including a housing and a piezoelectric transducer including a piezoelectric component, wherein the piezoelectric transducer is supported in the housing via at least one spring. In some embodiments, the medical device prosthesis is a bone conduction device, such as a transcutaneous passive or active bone conduction device.

  • Publication number: 20180063658
Abstract: An exemplary method, comprising generating an inductance signal utilizing an external component held against skin of a recipient, and receiving the inductance signal via an implanted inductance coil implanted in the recipient, wherein a layer of skin is located between the inductance coil and a skull a recipient in which the inductance coil is implanted.
    Type: Application

  • Patent number: 9877121
Abstract: A button on an auditory prosthesis is aligned with a shaft and a bone anchor of the prosthesis. Forces resulting from pressing of the button are evenly distributed towards the anchor, which prevents damage to the prosthesis. The button can be connected to the prosthesis housing with a flexible element or seal, which acts as a soft mute function when the button is pressed, further reducing the risk of feedback. Dampers can be incorporated into the button structure to further dampen feedback that can be transmitted to other components of the auditory prosthesis.
