  • Patent number: 11432745
Abstract: A method in gait rehabilitation for detecting a foot being lifted comprises: receiving (102) a plurality of signals from respective pressure sensors (12), mounted beneath a foot of a person, each signal providing a time sequence of values representing asserted pressure; processing the received signals, wherein said processing comprises, for each signal, assigning states to the respective pressure sensor (12) for determining when the foot is being lifted for walking, and wherein said assigning of states comprises: identifying that the sequence of values are maintained above an upper threshold (32) for a duration exceeding a time threshold (36); and upon such identifying assigning a prepared state to the sensor (12); and, when the sensor (12) is in the prepared state, identifying (108) a value below a lower threshold (34) indicating that the foot is potentially lifted; and upon such identifying assigning an unprepared state to the sensor (12); and wherein said processing further comprises, when assigning an unp

  • Patent number: 10791955
Abstract: A method for assessing nerve fiber excitability is disclosed. The method comprises: arranging an electrode in contact with skin of a person; determining a first and a second threshold value based on a stimulation current pulse of a first and a second waveform, respectively; wherein said determining of the first threshold value and said determining of the second threshold value each comprises: repeatedly providing a stimulation current pulse of the first or second waveform, respectively, through the electrode, wherein a stimulation current strength is altered between repetitions; and receiving signals from an interaction element with which the person interacts, said signals from the interaction element providing an indication of the first threshold value or the second threshold value, respectively, corresponding to a stimulation current strength necessary to be perceived by the person; and determining at least one measure of psychophysical perception based on the determined first and second threshold values.

  • Publication number: 20120101405
Abstract: Aspects of the invention relate to a device for predicting cutaneous afferent nerve fiber excitation from an electrical potential applied to a cutaneous tissue by an electrode and methods of using the same. In some embodiments, such devices and methods concern the electrical stimulation of nerves in the skin so as to ameliorate pain in a subject. Accordingly, methods making and using cutaneous electrodes are provided.
