Patent number: 9488441Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for mission planning. The method comprises the steps of: —providing (805) information related to a target scene, said information comprising information related to a plurality of targets, —providing (810) information related to a plurality of resources for target attack, —determining (820) at least one possible attack direction against each target, —determining (830) a target effect associated to attacking the target from each of said determined at least one possible attack direction for each target, —forming (840) a network of possible routes between the targets for the resources, wherein the possible routes are determined based on the possible attack directions related to each target, and —forming (845) the mission plan for fighting the targets based on the determined target effects from the respective attack directions and based on the formed network of possible routes, wherein each target is fighted a predetermined amount of times.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 2012Date of Patent: November 8, 2016Assignee: SAAB ABInventors: Jan Erik Eriksson, Kristian Lundberg

Patent number: 9094673Abstract: An arrangement and a method for providing a three dimensional map representation of an area. The arrangement includes an image generating unit and a processing unit. The image generating unit is arranged to generate time recorded images. The image generating unit is arranged to provide a plurality of at least partly overlapping images each covering at least a part of the area. The processing unit is arranged to stereo process an arbitrary number of at least partly overlapping image sets generated by the image generating unit so as to provide the three dimensional map representation. A navigation unit is arranged to output time recorded navigation states related to the image generating unit. The processing unit is arranged to, for each time recorded image to be stereo processed, associate the navigation states relating to a corresponding time record.Type: GrantFiled: July 4, 2007Date of Patent: July 28, 2015Assignee: SAAB ABInventors: Kristian Lundberg, Folke Isaksson

Publication number: 20150199623Abstract: A method for planning attacking targets to optimize a use of own available resources in a target area based upon information on own resources available for attacking and information on protected and non-protected targets located in the target area. Different attack tactics are collected in a first library. Different defense strategies are collected in a second library. A reward value is allotted to each target and threat in the target area. Each target and threat in the target area has a defense capability and a vulnerability. The different attack tactics for a chosen defense strategy are evaluated to find an optimal attack tactic having a highest possible accumulated value of target reward value combined with a defeat probability value. The found optimal attack tactic is utilized to create an attack plan involving information on resources needed, targets to attack and attacking directions and time delays.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 11, 2012Publication date: July 16, 2015Applicant: SAAB ABInventors: Magnus Andersson, Kristian Lundberg, Nils-Hassan Quttineh

Publication number: 20070299711Abstract: A system and a method for assisting in planning how to carry out a mission on a plurality of targets with a plurality of resources of different types. Information about the mission, the targets and the resources are received. The system includes a plurality of computing modules arranged in a hierarchical structure comprising at least two levels. The first level includes a plurality of computing modules, each corresponding to one or more resources of a specific type and arranged for producing a cost estimate for performing the mission by means of its corresponding resources based on a mathematical model of the resource and the information about the mission, the targets, and the resources. The second level includes computing modules adapted for receiving the cost estimates from the first level computing modules, and on basis thereof selecting which of the recourses to be used for performing the mission by means of a mathematical optimization method.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 29, 2005Publication date: December 27, 2007Applicant: SAAB ABInventor: Kristian Lundberg

Patent number: 7233859Abstract: The present invention relates to planning of a trajectory for minimum threat exposure in a given geographical region. A trajectory is planned from a start node to a final node in a digital representation of the geographical region. The threat exposure for a vehicle moving along the trajectory is determined. Navigation performance of the vehicle along the trajectory is evaluated. A rate of survival based on threat exposure and navigation performance along the trajectory is estimated. A new trajectory is planned from the start node to the final node until a best rate of survival is established for the planned trajectory.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2004Date of Patent: June 19, 2007Assignee: SAAB ABInventor: Kristian Lundberg
