  • Publication number: 20240050771
Abstract: A radiotherapy apparatus is described. The radiotherapy apparatus comprises a radiation source, a beam shaping apparatus, a beam receiving apparatus, and a controller configured to control the beam shaping apparatus. The radiation source is configured to deliver radiation in each of a coplanar configuration and at least one non-coplanar configuration. The beam shaping apparatus is configured to direct the radiation produced by the radiation source towards the beam receiving apparatus in each of the coplanar configuration and the at least one non-coplanar configuration. The controller is configured to control the beam shaping apparatus to apply a limit on a field of radiation produced by the radiation source based on whether the radiation source is configured in the coplanar configuration or the at least one non-coplanar configuration.

  • Publication number: 20230414971
Abstract: A radiotherapy device can include a tilting apparatus for tilting a source of radiation, the tilting apparatus comprising: a plurality of guide rails comprising a first guide rail and a second guide rail and a plurality of carriages comprising a first carriage and a second carriage. The first carriage being translatable along the first guide rail and the second carriage being translatable along the second guide rail. The radiotherapy device can also include a support structure for supporting the source of radiation. The support structure being rotatably coupled to each of the first carriage and the second carriage. The first guide rail and the second guide rail can be angled with respect to one another such that translation of the first carriage and the second carriage along the first guide rail and the second guide rail causes tilting of the support structure.

  • Publication number: 20230111290
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a subject support apparatus for a radiation therapy device comprising a base, a subject support tillable relative to the base, at least two first guides disposed between the subject support and the base and each inclined relative to the base, and a tilting module. The tilting module comprises a first actuator, and a plate disposed between the subject support and the base, and the plate is coupled to an underside of the subject support and to the first actuator such that movement generated by the first actuator is translated into movement of the plate along the at least two first guides, thereby causing the subject support to tilt relative to the base.

  • Publication number: 20230031538
Abstract: The present application relates to a radiotherapy apparatus for delivering radiation to a subject. The apparatus comprises a source of radiation configured to rotate about an isocenter and emit radiation in a radiation plane containing said isocentre. The apparatus also comprises a subject support surface configured such that a portion of the subject support surface can be located substantially at the isocenter. The apparatus also comprises a subject support surface rotation mechanism configured to rotate the subject support surface about an axis of rotation that passes through the isocenter, wherein the subject support surface rotation mechanism is located outside the radiation plane.

  • Publication number: 20230028350
Abstract: The present application relates to a patient support apparatus for a radiotherapy device. The patient support apparatus comprises a support surface and abase. The patient support apparatus also comprises a first connection assembly connecting the surface and the base, the first connection assembly being connected to the surface at a first connection point, wherein the first connection assembly is coupled to a first driving mechanism configured to effect translation of the first connection point in a substantially vertical direction. The patient support apparatus also comprises a second connection assembly connecting the surface and the base, the second connection assembly being connected to the surface at a second connection point, wherein the second connection assembly is coupled to a second driving mechanism configured to effect translation of the second connection point in the substantially vertical direction.

  • Patent number: 8567405
Abstract: This invention relates to a fixation device and a method for immobilizing a head of a patient relative a treatment unit or medical device during treatment of the head. The fixation device is provided with an interface unit adapted to be fixated in relation to an adaptor unit for connection to the treatment unit, or to a frame for connection to the medical device. Furthermore, the fixation device is provided with a bite-block for being inserted into a mouth of a patient and a positioning arrangement movably connecting the bite-block to the interface unit. The positioning arrangement is adapted to be fixated by means of an adhesive for fixation of the bite-block such that the head of a patient can be immobilized relative said adaptor unit or frame.

  • Patent number: 8393821
Abstract: According to the present invention, there is provided a clamping device for locking two elements, e.g. rotatable shafts, having a substantially circular cross-section. The clamping device comprises a central holding part having two partly curved sections being adapted to at least partly encircle and hold the elements, which curved sections are inversely curved. Further, the clamping device comprises an upper holding part having a partly curved section arranged being adapted to at least partly encircle and hold a first element and a lower holding part having a partly curved section being adapted to at least partly encircle and hold a second element. The central, upper and lower holding parts are adapted to co-operate to lock the elements when pressed together by means of a tightening element. The curved sections are inversely curved in relation to each other and form together with the substantially rectangular section a substantially S-shaped central part.
