  • Publication number: 20020152279
Abstract: An Intranet portal is provided that is organized into six sections for corporate or organizational Intranet users. The six sections of the Intranet portal are constructed using modules. Modules are small pieces of functionality to supply or provide access to data, applications, information and processes to the user over the Intranet. The user can then customize sections of the Intranet portal to correspond to that user's particular needs or requirements. The customization of the sections occurs from the user adding, removing or rearranging modules in that section.

  • Publication number: 20020152242
Abstract: A module-based Intranet portal is monitored to determine the usage of the modules of the Intranet portal. Detailed information relating to the usage of a module by a user is recorded and stored in a database. A user can then retrieve the detailed information on module usage from the database. The retrieved information is displayed in a chart or table for the user and includes information on the number of users of the module, the number of hits for the module, the number of times the module has been added to a user's portal and the number of times the module has been removed from the user's portal. In addition, the retrieved information can be sorted or arranged in the chart based on a number of different criteria. The different criteria for sorting the retrieved information includes the community of the user, the browser of the user, the country of the user, the index page of the user, the location of the user, the manager of the user and the operating system of the user.

  • Publication number: 20020152114
Abstract: Users of an Intranet portal can propose new modules to be added to the Intranet portal. To propose a new module a user has to provide a name and description of the new module. After providing the name and description of the new module, the user can then add the new module to a list of proposed new modules. Other users of the Intranet portal can then review the list of proposed new modules. In reviewing the proposed modules the other users can obtain the description of the module provided by the user who suggested the module. If the other user like the proposed new module the other user can vote for the proposed new module. The total number of votes for each proposed new module is maintained and then used to determine which modules should be added to the Intranet portal.
