    Abstract: The present invention relates to lathering cleansing compositions that comprise: a) a safe and effective amount of one or more mild crystalline surfactants, b) water, and c) a safe and effective amount of one or more polar solvents (other than water) wherein the composition exhibits hotmelt behavior and is substantially free of additional water soluble crystalline structurants. These hotmelt compositions have been found to be useful for cleansing and conditioning skin and hair due to their ability to achieve a sustained lather and to deposit therapeutic benefit agents. The present invention also relates to personal cleansing articles that comprise a water insoluble substrate that is contacted with the above-described hotmelt compositions.
