  • Patent number: 8540436
Abstract: An optical fiber coupling device and a method are disclosed. The optical fiber coupling device includes a first patch strip having a first plurality of optical fiber connectors arranged along a face of the first patch strip and a second patch strip having a second plurality of optical fiber connectors arranged along a face of the second patch strip. The first and second patch strips are in a stacked arrangement where the second plurality of optical fiber connectors is offset from the first plurality of optical fiber connectors in a first and a second direction transverse to a stacking direction. The offsetting improves access to the individual optical fiber connectors which assists an operative when managing or maintaining optical fiber connections and helps to reduce the likelihood of fatigue or failure since adjacent optical fiber connections are undisturbed during this process and the optical fiber connections may be easily accessed without needing to move or manipulate adjacent patch strips.

  • Patent number: 8355615
Abstract: A splice closure and fiber organizer device (10) comprises a substantially elongate body 5 member (12), closure member (16) and a foldable organizer tray (14) for accommodating at least one fiber splice and/or length(s) of excess fiber. The organizer tray which includes a plurality of fold lines (21) provided by respective living hinges is capable of being wrapped around part of the bodymember, into a generally cylindrical or part cylindrical shape, to close or partially close the closure. The fold lines enable the organizer tray to be folded into an extra 10 dimension, from a flat planar structure into a generally cylindrical or part cylindrical shape. This enables the closure to be more compact without compromising the bend control radius characteristics of the organizer tray. By restricting the minimum bend radius of the organizer to that of the fiber to be used bend control of installed fiber can be readily achieved. The device is particularly suitable for use in FTTX applications.

  • Publication number: 20110116756
Abstract: A reconfigurable passive optical component organiser (1) comprises a receiving surface (20,21,22) and restriction means (23,24,25,26,27). The receiving surface (20,21,22) comprises a plurality of relatively rigid regions hinged together and is reconfigurable between an open position and a closed position. In the open position the receiving surface (20,21,22) is configured to be substantially planar and retain a loop of optical fibre. In the closed position the receiving surface (20,21,21) is non-planar and substantially encloses said loop of fibre. The restriction means (23,24,25,26,27) act to prevent reconfiguration of the receiving surface (20,21,22) to the closed position bending the loop of fibre beyond the minimum bend radius of the loop of optical fibre.
