Abstract: A telecommunication and network traffic throttle and control system including one or more processors coupled to a communications network. The system is configured to monitor, control, and throttle network traffic to limit and block unwanted and harmful traffic to optimize performance of and protect telecommunications and network infrastructure. Received routing requests are parsed for source automatic number identifications (ANIs) and destination telephone numbers, which are used to generate local routing numbers (LRNs) for ported numbers, if applicable. ANIs and LRNs are evaluated over time to identify low quality and excess source and destination call attempts, which are throttled if outside of any number of predetermined network traffic quality of service parameters, limits, and ranges. To protect infrastructure, the system controls and throttles allocated bandwidth ranging between zero bandwidth and higher communications rates.
