Patent number: 10033852Abstract: A device is configured to receive a request to use a sensor of a user device. The device determines a sensitivity area associated with the sensor. The sensitivity area indicates an area the sensor is capable of sensing. The device identifies a restricted area in the sensitivity area. The restricted area corresponds to an area from which the user device is limited from use. The user device identifies a restriction associated with the restricted area, generates a response to the request based on the restriction, and provides the response. The response causes the user device to limit use of the sensor, recording of data captured by the sensor, or access to data recorded by the user device even when the user device is located outside of the restricted area.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2013Date of Patent: July 24, 2018Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Robert A. Clavenna, II, Paul V. Hubner, Steven T. Archer, Kristopher A. Pate

Patent number: 9277101Abstract: An approach for enabling users to generate an interpolated view of content based on footage captured by multiple cameras is described. An interpolation platform receives a plurality of images from a plurality of video cameras providing overlapping fields of view. A camera angle that is different from angles provided by the plurality of cameras is selected. The interpolation platform then generates an interpolated image corresponding to the selected camera angle using a portion or all of the plurality of images from the plurality of cameras.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2011Date of Patent: March 1, 2016Assignee: VERIZON PATENT AND LICENSING INC.Inventors: Paul V. Patent number: 8290779Abstract: An approach is disclosed for providing a managed language translation service. A request, from a source station, is received, at a switch, to establish a voice call with a destination station. A determination is made whether the request includes an indicator specifying invocation of a translation service managed by a service provider. If the request includes the indicator, the voice call is directed to a gateway that transmits the voice call over a data network to a translation application. The translation application translates, in real-time, speech associated with the voice call from a first language to a second language. The translated speech is transmitted to the destination station.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 2007Date of Patent: October 16, 2012Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Ralph Samuel Hoefelmeyer, Kristopher A.
