    Abstract: Oligopeptide anticancer and antiviral agents are represented by the formula:A-(NHCO).sub.m -Het-(NHCO-Het).sub.n -NH-R-NH-(Het-CONH).sub.n -Het-(CONH).sub.m -Awherein A is a moiety bearing a positive charge and of a size which avoids steric inhibition of binding of said compound to deoxyribonucleic acid sequence; R is a moiety derived from a dicarboxylic acid; Het is a five-membered heterocyclic moiety; n is 1, 2 or 3, m is 0 or 1. These compounds exhibit antiviral activity especially against herpes simplex I and II, vaccinia viruses and anticancer activity against several animal and human tumor lines.
