  • Patent number: 6707520
Abstract: A method of fabricating a liquid crystal display capable of arranging a liquid crystal injected within a liquid crystal display panel into a stable bend structure within a short time. The liquid crystal display includes a non-display area and a display area. In the method, alignment films positioned at the non-display area and at the display area undergo a rubbing treatment. The non-display area is exposed to light to adjust a pre-tilt angle of a liquid crystal included in each of the non-display area and the display area. Accordingly, the liquid crystal within the black matrix area is arranged at a large pre-tilt angle upon initialization of the liquid crystal display device, so that a bend structure can be obtained in a fast and stable manner.

  • Patent number: 6600531
Abstract: A liquid crystal cell having spaced apart opposed and first and second substrates. First and second orientation films having first and second rubbing directions are on opposing surfaces of the first and the second substrates. First and second polarizers having first and second transmittance axis directions are on exterior surfaces of the first and the second substrates. A liquid crystal having a twisted angle “ø” is interposed in a gap “d” between the first and the second orientation films. The first transmittance axis direction is perpendicular to the second transmittance axis direction. The first and the second rubbing direction form an angle of ø. The first and second rubbing directions form angles of (90°−ø/2 with the first and second transmittance axis directions. The gap “d” is equal to the distance that produces optimum transmittance of the liquid crystal cell.

  • Publication number: 20020084959
Abstract: A method of driving a liquid crystal display that is adaptive for improving a picture quality is provided. In the method, a clock signal is applied to a gate driver. First to third gate output enable signals are applied to the gate driver. A scanning pulse is applied to two gate lines during one period of the clock signal. Accordingly, a desired picture is displayed over a black picture, so that it becomes possible to prevent a motion blur phenomenon. Also, a capacitance value of the liquid crystal cell is fixed, so that a voltage drop amount of the data pulse can be predicted and determined, and the voltage drop amount of the data pulse can be compensated.
