  • Publication number: 20080002116
Abstract: A transflective type LCD device including a unit pixel region divided into reflective and transmitting parts includes first and second substrates facing each other, a pixel electrode in the pixel region of first substrate, a reflective sheet in the reflective part of first substrate, a common electrode on the second substrate, at least one first open pattern for forming multi-domains, and the first open pattern in at least one of the pixel and common electrodes, and a plurality of second open patterns for inducing a fringe field, and the second open patterns in the reflective part of at least one of the pixel and common electrodes.

  • Publication number: 20050213019
Abstract: An in-plane switching mode liquid crystal display device includes upper and lower substrates, first and second ferroelectric liquid crystal layers, a nematic system crystal layer, and first and second electrodes. The electrodes and liquid crystal layers are located between the substrates, with the nematic liquid crystal layer between the ferroelectric liquid crystal layers. The ferroelectric liquid crystal layers have different spontaneous polarization directions. An electric field is applied to the liquid crystal layers using the electrodes. The ferroelectric liquid crystal layers react to different electric field to conduct an in-plane driving of liquid crystal molecules in the nematic liquid crystal layer.

  • Publication number: 20050128394
Abstract: A liquid crystal display using a compensating film includes a liquid crystal panel having upper and lower substrates, and a liquid crystal layer interposed between; a first compensating film formed over an inner surface of at least one of the upper substrate lower substrates; a second compensating film formed over an outer surface of at least one of the upper and lower substrates; and first and second polarizing plates attached over the second compensating film and on an outer surface of the other one of the upper lower substrates such that a first optical transmission axis of the first polarizing plate is perpendicular to a second optical transmission axis of the second polarizing plate. The compensating film is formed inside the liquid crystal panel, thereby preventing light leakage at a viewing angle and improving the viewing angle characteristics.
