    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a video signal processing apparatus includes an acquisition unit to obtain the frequency of each luminance level from the input luminance signal worth of one frame, a frequency conversion unit that logarithmically converts the frequency of each luminance level obtained and adds a preset offset value, a preparation unit that prepares a nonlinear correction processing table to cumulatively add the frequency-converted data and provide nonlinear correction processing for the input luminance signal, and a processor that provides nonlinear correction processing to the input luminance signal in accordance with the prepared nonlinear correction processing table.
