  • Patent number: 8102376
Abstract: In an object detection method for a capacitive touchpad, at least one reference time interval is used to distinguish whether a variation of the sensed value on the touchpad is resulted from an operation of an object on the touchpad, actions such as an object touch down to the touchpad, an object lift from the touchpad and an object movement on the touchpad are then determined, and operations corresponding to various gestures are correctly detected.

  • Patent number: 8040325
Abstract: Methods are provided for base capacitance compensation of traces in a touchpad sensor. Compensation areas are calculated by evaluating the differences between the base capacitances of the traces, or the differences between the base capacitances of the traces and a target value. The compensation areas are electrically connected to respective traces to equalize the base capacitances of the traces. Alternatively, a relationship between the areas of the traces and the distances from the traces to a grounding layer for equalizing the base capacitances of the traces is derived and from which the areas of the traces or the position of the grounding layer are adjusted.

  • Patent number: 7688313
Abstract: A touch-sense apparatus available for one-dimensional and two-dimensional modes comprises a sensor having a plurality of traces in two directions to sense the position touched by an object to produce a first signal, a two-dimensional coordinate processor to produce a two-dimensional coordinate based on the first signal in the two-dimensional mode, and a coordinate transformer to produce a second signal from the first signal or the two-dimensional coordinate in the one-dimensional mode for a one-dimensional coordinate processor to produce a one-dimensional coordinate in response to the second signal.

  • Publication number: 20100001966
Abstract: A capacitive touchpad includes a controller, a plurality of scan lines and a plurality of sensor pads distributed over a one dimensional touch sensor. Each of the sensor pads is connected to the controller by a respective one of the scan lines to transmit a sensed value to the controller. The controller uses the sensed values and the positions of some of the sensor pads in an interpolation to determine the two dimensional coordinates of one or more touched positions. Based on the sensed values, the controller selects one or more of the sensor pads as one or more reference points for the interpolation.

  • Publication number: 20080150715
Abstract: Operation control methods and systems. Contacts respectively corresponding to at least two pointers on a touch-sensitive mechanism are detected. Movements of the contacts on the touch-sensitive mechanism are detected, and an operation instruction is determined according to the movements. A host executes the operation instruction by enabling a specific object to perform an operation.

  • Publication number: 20070126708
Abstract: In a gesture detection method for a touch control bar with button and scroll bar functions, according to the present invention, various gestures such as tap, drag and double tap are determined by detecting an object that touches on the touch control bar, leaves from the touch control bar, and moves on the touch control bar.

  • Publication number: 20070103450
Abstract: A touch control bar with button function comprises a plurality of scroll sensor areas and at least a button sensor area disposed between two adjacent ones of the scroll sensor areas. On the touch control bar, a virtual button is defined over an area covering at least a button sensor area. The gesture on the touch control bar will determine which function between button and scroll is to be performed.

  • Publication number: 20070075983
Abstract: A multi-function touchpad has a first button located at substantially a center of the touchpad and a second button at substantially an edge of the touchpad. When the first button is pressed, if the second button is also pressed, the touchpad triggers the function in response to the first button and ignores the pressing of the second button.
