  • Patent number: 9461809
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for extended range Ethernet link discovery signaling are provided. A local PHY may detect of one or more active twisted-pair wires in a remote PHY in extended range applications. The local PHY may determine whether to operate as a master or slave based on detected pairs. When operating as a master device, the local PHY may correct twisted-pair wire swap information received from the remote PHY before communicating an encoded link length value to the remote PHY. When operating as a slave device, the local PHY may transmit encoded twisted-pair wire swap information to the remote PHY before recovering a link length value communicated from the remote PHY. The local PHY may communicate supported operating modes based on the link length value to the remote PHY. Moreover, the local PHY may enable establishing a common full duplex operating mode with the remote PHY.

  • Patent number: 8422512
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for an extended range Ethernet line code are provided. One or more ternary encoded bitstreams may be generated and transmitted. The generating may comprise mapping 3-bit binary IDLE patterns having a least significant bit of zero to a non-zero ternary value, and mapping 3-bit binary IDLE patterns having a non-zero least significant bit to a ternary zero. The generating may comprise receiving binary data via a media independent interface, mapping each 4-bit portion of said received binary data to a ternary symbol comprising two ternary bits, and transmitting said ternary symbol over said one or more physical channels. Data portions of the one or more ternary encoded bitstreams may be generated by mapping 3-bit binary patterns to 2-bit ternary symbols. One of the nine possible 2-bit ternary symbols may be reserved for control portions of said one or more ternary encoded bitstreams.

  • Patent number: 7835389
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for an extended range Ethernet line code are provided. A local PHY may enable converting Ethernet media independent interface (MII) data from a 4-bit packet stream to a 3-bit packet stream. The 3-bit packet stream may be mapped to first and second ternary bits streams, for example, for communication to a remote PHY utilizing PAM-3 over one or more twisted-pair wires. The 3-bit packet stream may be scrambled and/or aligned before mapping. When a single twisted-pair wire is available, the local PHY may multiplex the ternary bits streams into a single stream. Start-stream delimiters (SSD) may be inserted before the ternary bits streams and end-stream delimiters may be inserted after the ternary bits streams. Idle signals may be inserted after the ESDs and before the start of the next frame of MII data.

  • Publication number: 20030032557
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an imaging medium comprising a substrate carrying a color-change layer which develops color upon heating. The addition of a novel block copolymer surfactant containing ethylene oxide (EO) and propylene oxide (PO) into the leuco dye dispersion prevents color pre-formation during the dispersion preparation stage, and in the final coating fluid in the presence of developers and acids. The pluronic may complex the acid developer as well as the final image dye.

  • Patent number: 4118548
Abstract: Liquid-semiconductor photocells are described which produce a stable photocurrent output over extended periods of time by controllably removing material from the semiconductor surface in such a manner as to maintain the integrity of the junction characteristics. The removal may be either by photoetching or by chemical reaction with the electrolyte or with agents added to the electrolyte.

  • Patent number: 4082602
Abstract: A quality control technique is based on the observation that trapping centers contribute to inefficient operation of junction devices. Devices are irradiated by a first radiation source of intensity sufficient to populate traps and a second radiation source of varying wavelength. Trapping centers are detected by a deviation from the expected photovoltaic output-incident wavelength relationship. Such "structure" is utilized as the basis for altering production conditions to minimize currents of such centers. While the procedure is of general applicability, it is particularly suitable as applied to photovoltaic cells.
