  • Patent number: 10947356
Abstract: A nanocomposite including an array of extended length fibers with nanofibers oriented in transverse relation to the extended length fibers. The nanofibers are mechanically interlocked with the extended length fibers using a connecting agent concentrated at contact locations between the extended length fibers and the nanofibers without saturating the composite. The resultant composite of fibers and connecting agent is characterized by significant internal porosity with an internal void volume not occupied by the connecting agent.

  • Patent number: 10556390
Abstract: A method and apparatus for uniformly and directionally aligning and stretching nanofibers inside a porous medium is described. The nanofibers may include nanotubes, nanowires, long-chain polymer molecules or likewise. Porous medium may include a porous layer, fabric, or composite prepreg or likewise. According to one embodiment, an apparatus for directional alignment of nanofiber in a porous medium includes a fluid matrix with nanofibers. A porous medium is provided as well as a device for forcing the fluid matrix radially through the porous medium.

  • Patent number: 8451013
Abstract: An insulated fiber sensor apparatus is used in a composite that includes a number of fibers in a matrix. An insulated fiber is connected with the composite and is covered with insulation such that the insulation separates the insulated fiber from the matrix and from the number of fibers in the matrix. Further, a measurement device is connected with the insulated fiber. According to one aspect of the invention, the fibers are carbon fibers.

  • Patent number: 8291137
Abstract: A system for universal serial bus (USB) image capturing with two isochronous transfers includes a USB image capturing device and a host. The USB image capturing device has two endpoints for transferring a video stream through a USB. The host has a driver for receiving the video stream through the USB. The driver receives the video stream, and creates a read extension data structure for the endpoints. The driver manages and dispatches the packets of the endpoints, and copies data of the packets into a first buffer and a second buffer, respectively. When a first end frame flag in a packet of the first endpoint is set and a second end frame flag in a packet of the second endpoint is set, the driver combines data of the first and the second buffers into a frame and sends the frame to the host.
