  • Publication number: 20070215473
Abstract: A method sequentially performs electrophoresis depositing carbon nanotube of field emission display. Only one cathode strip is subjected to electrical field at one time during electrophoresis deposition. Therefore, the electrophoresis deposition is confined to local area. A cathode plate includes a plurality of cathode strips and the cathode strips sequentially have potential difference with respect to the anode strips, whereby only one electrical field is present for one pixel at one time and carbon nanotube is formed at that pixel. The cathode strips are sequentially applied with voltage for global electrophoresis deposition.

  • Patent number: 7271527
Abstract: In a converging-type electron-emission source of a field-emission display, a substrate is provided and a silver paste is used to form a first electrode layer on the substrate by the process such as thick-film photolithography or screen-printing. A carbon nanotube is formed on the first electrode layer by thick-film photolithography or screen-printing, and a second electrode is formed on the carbon nanotube. A third electrode layer is formed on the first electrode layer around the second electrode layer by thick-film photolithography or screen-printing. The third electrode layer is higher than the second electrode layer, such that a converging exit is formed around the second electrode layer. A sintering step is performed. When the electron beam is generated, the electron beam is concentrated at the center of the converging exit to impinge a phosphor layer of an anode without causing gamut.

  • Publication number: 20070187246
Abstract: A method of manufacturing carbon nanotube electron field emitters by do-matrix sequential electrophoretic deposition forms an electric field for only one pixel in the electrophoretic deposition, so that only the electrophoretic area has the electrophoretic effect. Longitudinally aligned cathode electrodes of a cathode plate include a plurality of electron field transmitters at the depositing positions, and anode electrodes of an anode plate perpendicular to the cathode electrodes are preinstalled, and a switch unit provides a potential difference for each cathode or anode electrode by a sequential change, and only one alternating pixel having an electric field between the cathode and anode plates per unit time of the electrophoresis produces a deposition effect in the area for manufacturing a carbon nanotube electron field transmitter, and the sequential voltage change of each cathode or anode electrode is used to achieve the electrophoretic deposition effect for all pixels of the cathode plate.

  • Publication number: 20070187245
Abstract: A scanning-matrix type electrophoresis deposition method fabricates nanotube electron emission source. During the electrophoresis deposition process, the electrical field is applied to a single pixel to localize the electrophoresis deposition. The cathode strips on the cathode plate are vertical to the anode strips of the anode plate. A sequential pulse voltage signal is applied to the cathode strips and the anode strips. Therefore only one electrical field is present for one pixel defined by the cathode strip cross with the anode strip at one time and nanotube is formed at that pixel.

  • Publication number: 20070154625
Abstract: A method activates the electron emission surface of a field emission display. After an un-activated cathode plate is manufactured, a protective layer is formed by coating a solvent to one face of the electron emission source layer. A coating is applied to the protective layer to form a covering layer on the surface of the electron emission source layer. The covering layer is cured and then a mold-releasing cylinder is used to release the dried film. The surface of the electron emission source layer can be uniformly activated. The electron emission source layer is then baked again to remove the remaining solvent.

  • Patent number: 7238077
Abstract: A tetraode field-emission display and a method of fabricating the same are disclosed. A mesh is disposed between an anode plate and a cathode plate. The mesh has a gate layer and a converging electrode layer separated by an insulation layer to form a sandwich structure. The mesh has a plurality of apertures in correspondence with each set of anode and cathode. A glass plate is placed between the mesh and the anode to serve as a spacer. The converging electrode layer is facing the anode plate, such that the divergent range of an electron beam emitted by an electron emission source can be restricted.
