  • Patent number: 8400937
Abstract: A resource metric quantization is described that has use for resources of wireless data communications system. In one example the quantization include measuring a signal parameter for a plurality of frequency partitions, setting a first resource metric for a first frequency partition equal to a first value, determining a second and a third resource metric for a second and third frequency partition, respectively, based on comparing the measured signal parameter for the second and third frequency partitions to the measured signal parameter for the first partition, encoding a second and a third resource metric, and transmitting the encoded resource metrics to a remote wireless station.

  • Publication number: 20110151881
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for Fractional frequency reuse (FFR). A reuse factor of one (f=1) may be used to serve mobile stations located in inner cell regions that do not experience significant inter-cell interference (ICI) and a reuse factor of less than one (f<1) may be used for mobile stations located near the cell edge that tend to experience higher levels of ICI. Dynamic allocation of frequency partitions and adjustment of power levels for each base station sector are provided in order to avoid collisions between neighboring base station sectors and achieve improved capacity and performance. Load balancing may also be provided.

  • Publication number: 20070183414
Abstract: A feedback information separating section (105) takes out information indicative of an eigenvector, eigenvalues, and the number of effective eigenvalues, i.e. the number of eigen values larger than a specified threshold value included in the feedback information sent from the communication party. A section (151) for controlling the number of multiplex sequences determines the number of multiplex sequences (number of transmission streams) of transmission data based on the number of effective eigenvalues, and performs serial/parallel conversion of a sequence of transmission data into the number of sequences thus determined. Performance can be enhanced in a communication system employing MIMO.
