  • Publication number: 20180315324
Abstract: A method for providing obstacle alerts to an in-flight aircraft has been developed. First, parameters of an in-flight aircraft are transmitted to a ground based processor station. The station calculates an aircraft safety envelope based on these parameters. The station accesses the characteristics of obstacles stored in a terrain database and calculates an obstacle safety envelope. Finally, the station determines if the aircraft safety envelope conflicts with the obstacle safety envelope and generates an alert for the aircraft if a conflict exists.

  • Publication number: 20180312790
Abstract: A bath or hand soap bar shell is provided with a hollow insert of a different material is positioned within the core of the shell such that the hollow insert is fully buried in the soap material. This bath or hand soap bar shell substantially reduces a weight of the shell as compared to a solid soap bar so that when the shell is trashed without its full use the waste of the soap material is significantly minimized. In one embodiment, the bath or hand soap bar shell comprises a first soap portion formed from a first meltable soap material. The bath or hand soap bar shell further comprises a hollow core insert formed from a second material. The second material is different than the first meltable soap material. The bath or hand soap bar shell further comprises a second soap portion formed from the first meltable soap material, the second soap portion applied to the first soap portion such that the bath or hand soap bar shell fully encases the hollow core insert.

  • Publication number: 20180315169
Abstract: This disclosure covers systems and methods that sharpen the appearance of a digital illustration while moving the digital illustration. In certain embodiments, upon receiving a command to move a digital illustration, the disclosed systems and methods move the digital illustration (and its constituent line segments) to positions that both sharpen the appearance of the digital illustration and respond to the command. To facilitate sharpening the appearance of a digital illustration as part of a seemingly continuous movement, in some embodiments, the disclosed systems and methods move a blurry digital illustration to a position that sharpens the appearance of blurry axial-line segments by translating the digital illustration according to a translation vector and a command to move the digital illustration.

  • Patent number: 10111427
Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel formulation, comprising Anacardic acid or its derivatives and phytohormones (1-NAA and GA3), which promotes the increase in fiber yield and improvement in fiber quality. The in-vitro ovule culture assay was used to check the effect of formulation on initiation and development of cotton fiber. Increased initiation and length of cotton fibers was observed in the cultured ovules treated with the formulation which were validated by biochemical assays. The formulation was applied directly onto the at least 70 plants of Gossypium hirsutum genotypes in three replicates with control plants treated with phytohormones only. The formulation was applied by spraying on buds, flowers and bolls. The treated plants show significant increase in boll weight, fiber length, fineness and fiber strength. Thus, the formulation may serve as an important plant growth stimulator leading to the increase in fiber yield and improvement in fiber quality in cotton plants.

  • Patent number: 10110469
Abstract: Systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for detecting network loops. In some embodiments, a system can identify a port that is in a blocking state. The blocking state can be for dropping one or more types of packets and preventing the port from forwarding the one or more types of packets. The system can determine a number of packets transmitted through the port by a hardware layer on the system and a number of control packets transmitted through the port by a software layer on the system. The system can determine whether the number of packets is greater than the number of control packets. When the number of packets is greater than the number of control packets, the system can determine that the blocking state has failed to prevent the port from forwarding the one or more types of packets.

  • Publication number: 20180302494
Abstract: Analytics driven update notifications can be provided. An agent on a managed device can monitor which applications are being used on the managed device and can provide a report of these application usage details along with other details of components on the managed device to a management server. The management server can evaluate reports received from a number of agents to generate rankings of applications and components that are based at least partially on usage. The management server can then identify available updates and present recommendations for deploying the updates based on the rankings.

  • Patent number: 10102042
Abstract: A method includes storing a plurality of workloads in a first disk resource associated with a high end disk classification. The method further includes determining a corresponding activity level for each of the plurality of workloads. The method also includes classifying each of the plurality of workloads into a first set indicative of high-priority workloads and a second set indicative of low-priority workloads based on whether the corresponding activity level is greater than a threshold activity level. The method further includes determining whether a second disk resource associated with a low end disk classification can accommodate storage of a first particular workload in the second set based on an available storage capacity of the second disk resource. • Publication number: 20180294139
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatus for reducing particle contamination on substrates in a plasma process chamber. In one embodiment, by applying a DC power to an electrode surrounding a processing region, the boundary of a plasma region formed in the processing region extends closer to the chamber body and outside of the diameter of the substrate support. In another embodiment, by applying a negative bias to an electrode or a positive bias to the lid, negatively charged species located at the boundary of the plasma region are lifted by the electrostatic force created by the negative bias or the positive bias. As a result, species located at the boundary of the plasma region will not fall onto the edge of the substrate disposed on the substrate support as the electric power for sustaining the plasma region is turned off, leading to reduced particle contamination on the substrate.

  • Publication number: 20180294146
Abstract: Implementations of the present disclosure generally relate to an apparatus for reducing particle contamination on substrates in a plasma processing chamber. The apparatus for reduced particle contamination includes a chamber body, a lid coupled to the chamber body. The chamber body and the lid define a processing volume therebetween. The apparatus also includes a substrate support disposed in the processing volume and an edge ring. The edge ring includes an inner lip disposed over a substrate, a top surface connected to the inner lip, a bottom surface opposite the top surface and extending radially outward from the substrate support, and an inner step between the bottom surface and the inner lip. To avoid depositing the particles on the substrate being processed when the plasma is de-energized, the edge ring shifts the high plasma density zone away from the edge area of the substrate.

  • Publication number: 20180289423
Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods in which a surgeon can use computer-implemented deformity assessment and correction tools to create 3D models of a bone. To ensure adequate healing, a surgeon may choose to use a prefabricated bone plate, a semi-customized bone plate, or a fully-customized bone plate to hold first and second bone portions in a corrected position. To select the appropriate prefabricated bone plate, the surgeon may identify three landmark locations on the first and second bone portions corresponding to desired fixation hole locations on the bone plate. The surgeon can then use a software application to evaluate multiple bone plate designs in a library and compare the average proximity of the landmark locations to fixation hole locations on each of the bone plate designs. Then, the surgeon can determine which bone plate design best fits the patient anatomy based on his comparison.

  • Publication number: 20180285675
Abstract: System and method for text localization in images are disclosed. In an embodiment, a line and graphic eliminated image is received. Further, horizontal projection is performed on rows of the image to obtain a first flag vector, the flag vector indicates whether there is text in each row. Furthermore, a number of run-lengths of consecutive 1's and 0's is computed in the first flag vector. Moreover, text lines is extracted in the image based on the computed number of run-lengths of consecutive 1's and 0's in the first flag vector. Also, vertical projection is performed on the text lines to obtain a second flag vector for the text lines. Further, a number of run-lengths of consecutive 1's and 0's is computed in the second flag vectors. Furthermore, text is localized in the image based on the computed number of run-lengths of consecutive 1's and 0's in the second flag vectors.

  • Patent number: 10084093
Abstract: During formation of a trench silicide contact, a sacrificial layer is incorporated into the trench directly over source/drain junctions prior to metallization of the trench. Selective removal of the sacrificial layer widens the trench proximate to the source/drain junctions, increasing the contact area and correspondingly decreasing the contact resistance between the source/drain junctions and a silicide layer.
