    Abstract: According to an example, a display having a display surface may comprise a backlight, a collimator, and a scattering layer. The backlight may emit light towards the display surface, the light being narrowed by the collimator. The collimator may be located between the display surface and the backlight and the scattering layer may be between the display surface and the collimator. The scattering layer may be selectively operable between a diffuse state in which light traveling through the scattering layer is scattered and a non-diffuse state in which the direction of travel of the light traveling through the scattering layer is substantially unaffected.

    Abstract: A method for controlling a television device comprises the following steps. A portable device with a wireless power receiver module is provided. A display control module of the television device receives a parental control signal from a remote control module of the portable device. A feedback detector unit of a wireless power transmitter module of the television device detects whether the wireless power receiver module is located within a predetermined range so as to generate a first detection result. The display control module selectively enables a parental control function according to the parental control signal and the first detection result. The feedback detector unit again detects whether the wireless power receiver module is located within the predetermined range so as to generate a second detection result. Finally, the television device is controlled to turn on, turn off or enter into a standby mode based on the second detection result.
