The annotation system may then apply a media overlay to the target image based on the contour mask. In particular, the contour mask can define portions of the target digital image such that the annotation system will apply a media overlay to at least one of those portions while not applying the media overlay to remaining portions of the target digital image.

    Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system for predicting response rates. During operation, the system determines features representing historical applications to opportunities and historical responses to the historical applications by a poster of the opportunities, wherein the historical responses include interactions between the poster and candidates submitting the historical applications and notifications transmitted to the candidates of actions related to the historical applications by the poster. Next, the system applies one or more operations to the features to generate a predicted response rate of the poster to an application for an opportunity by a member of the online system. The system then compares the predicted response rate to a threshold to determine a recommendation related to the application by the member. Finally, the system outputs, to the member in a user interface of the online system, the recommendation in association with the opportunity.

    Abstract: A Region Merging image segmentation algorithm based on boundary extraction is disclosed, comprising the steps of calculating a gradient image, extracting a boundary and carrying out initial segmentation and Region Merging, wherein the initial segmentation can be omitted. In the Region Merging process, the ratio of the length of boundary extraction result lies on the adjacent edge between adjacent regions to the length of the adjacent edge is taken as the merging cost, the regions are merged according to the ascending order of the mean gradient value in the region, and a texture difference evaluation mechanism is introduced to remove the error segmentation. The algorithm solves the problems of the other current segmentation algorithms, such as over-segmentation, easy to be influenced by noise and illumination, large in computation and memory consumption, in need of a large number of samples being marked manually and the like.
