The message sending method includes sending a first message, where the first message occupies at least P first-type symbols in time domain, P is an integer greater than or equal to 1, the time domain positions of M first-type symbols among the at least P first-type symbols are aligned with or included in Q second-type symbols, M is a positive integer less than P, and Q is a positive integer. In this manner, the first message is sent through the first-type symbols, thereby achieving the transmission of LP-WUS, achieving the sleep wakeup of the terminal, and improving the energy efficiency of the terminal.
