    Abstract: A vehicle body structure for positioning a gear shift lever upon a central portion of a floor tunnel, underneath which is provided a fuel tank having a complementary shape to that of the fuel tunnel. The displacement of the shift lever is transmitted through a shift linkage to a transmission. The shift linkage extends through a clearance created between a shift lever cover and the floor tunnel and is substantially parallel to the longitudinally extending tunnel.
