    Abstract: A decoder performance management portion manages performance of a plurality of decoders provided in an AV stream reproducing apparatus. A display portion changes, in accordance with an instruction from the user, an output state of an image display frame on a screen of an output portion, and notifies it to a decoder management portion. The decoder management portion controls a decoder switching portion so that decoders used for decoding AV streams acquired by a communication portion (106) and a TV receiving portion are switched as appropriate, based on the notification from the display changing portion.

The decoder management portion (103) controls a decoder switching portion (105) so that decoders used for decoding AV streams acquired by a communication portion (106) and a TV receiving portion (107) are switched as appropriate, based on the notification from the display changing portion (102).

    Abstract: A multimedia processing system of the present invention comprises an application, a multimedia abstracting unit, and a multimedia processing module. The multimedia processing abstracting unit is comprised of: a logic module; a stream path for connecting each logic module; a stream pipe for transmitting/receiving data between each logic module and the application; and a correspondence managing unit which carries structural information of the logic module, the stream pipe, and the stream path for making correspondence between with the processing module. The correspondence managing unit updates the structural information every time each logic module is created and connected according to the command from the application and, thereafter, at the point where the stream pipe and stream path are connected, receives a LOCK command indicating confirmation of structure from the application. Thereby one corresponding processing module is confirmed and started.

The control portion A receives the data B and transmission right transmitted from the control portion B. If the control portion A is receiving a transmission request for data A from the utilization portion A at this time, it first obtains the transmission-requested data A from the utilization portion A and transmits it to the control portion B together with the transmission right. After transmitting the data A, the control portion A transfers the data B received from the control portion B to the utilization portion A.
