  • Publication number: 20020059092
Abstract: By implementing a unit obtaining behavior data, a unit recording/storing the obtained behavior data and a unit calculating the fee of the recorded/stored behavior data and selling the behavior data by a computer system, the behavior data are traded. By using data in which a paired series of place information/time information and information provided to a user depending on a time/place to be presented are described according to a prescribed specification, the utility of such data can be improved. In this way, a system in which data about a series of human consecutive behavior can be collected and the behavior data can be sold, can be provided, and as a result, behavior data can be effectively utilized for commodity development, information service, advertisement/commercial, etc.

  • Patent number: 6359621
Abstract: A data converting device collects time series movement data by measuring a movement of a living thing, encodes the movement data, and stores the encoded data in a storage device. Next, the data converting device generates new encoded data by reading and editing the encoded data. The data converting device then restores the movement data from the encoded data, and reproduces the movement of a virtual character on a display device based on the restored data.

  • Publication number: 20010056369
Abstract: In a system for posting an advertisement via a network, the cost of the advertisement is set in consideration of a region and location or a time slot and season in which the advertisement is posted; i.e., effectiveness of the advertisement. An advertisement-cost calculation unit calculates the cost of the advertisement in consideration of a geographical factor and/or a temporal factor. An advertisement posting unit posts the advertisement on a display apparatus of an information terminal in a manner related to the geographical factor and/or the temporal factor. The advertisement-cost calculation unit may calculate the cost of the advertisement in consideration of the status of use of the advertisement obtained by a state-of-use acquiring unit and/or user information of the advertisement obtained by a user-information designating/acquiring unit. If necessary, a map display unit displays a map on the display apparatus together with the advertisement.

  • Patent number: 6330539
Abstract: In the dialog interface apparatus of the present invention, input speech is converted to an input semantic representation by a speech recognition unit, and a dialog management unit outputs an output semantic representation that corresponds to the input semantic representation, based on the input semantic representation obtained by the speech recognition unit. Having received the output semantic representation from the dialog management unit, a speech synthesis unit converts the output semantic representation to output speech identifying a specific dialog target and outputs the output speech. Further, the dialog management unit outputs to an innate operation execution unit an innate operation command that corresponds to the input semantic representation. The innate operation execution unit receives the innate operation command from the dialog management unit and executes an operation corresponding to the innate operation command.

  • Publication number: 20010019960
Abstract: A service database stores a set of area information and a service program for each individual service. When position information of a mobile station and service selection information are received, the service database is searched to retrieve a service program specified by the service selection information and corresponding area information. When the mobile station is present in the area represented by the area information, the service program is executed to provide a service to the mobile station.

  • Publication number: 20010002128
Abstract: A regular menu item arrangement is made available to a user by providing a hierarchy menu including a layer from which an object is selected and a layer from which a predicate is selected, leading to an improvement in operability. The layer of the object menu and layer of the predicate menu may be respectively made higher and lower in a hierarchy, or vice versa. Both of the menus may be switched.

  • Patent number: 6226589
Abstract: The mobile object data storage unit of the management center manages and stores the positional information and the attribute information about a number of unspecified mobile objects such as persons, creatures, objects, etc. moving outdoors, etc. Upon receipt of the detection condition of the position and the attribute of another mobile object from the terminal unit, the retrieval unit searches the mobile object data storage unit, and displays a list of corresponding mobile objects on the requesting terminal unit. The guiding information computation unit computes the guiding information to a detected mobile object selected by the requesting mobile object terminal unit depending on a predetermined privacy setting level, and transmits the guiding information to the requesting mobile object terminal unit.

  • Patent number: 6040840
Abstract: The system creates the aggregate of virtual particles in a cybernetic space on a computer and displays the shape of an object by means of a film covering its surface. When a user inputs a deforming designation, each particle moves and deforms the film. At this time the shape, sense of touch and counter force are output from the computer, and the user can deform the object with a feeling of working clay.

  • Patent number: 5739657
Abstract: A controlling apparatus for representing the motion of a normal wheeled omni-directional vehicle (ODV) in a relative coordinate system, and for effectively controlling the ODV and a controlling method thereof. Drive wheels are connected to four corners of the body of the ODV through offset links that can be independently steered. With the offset links, even if the body stops, it can be reoriented without a need to perform a forced direction change operation. The traveling speed of the body, the turning radius of the body, and the angle between the horizontal axis of the body and the traveling direction thereof are defined as relative variables of a relative coordinate system. With these relative variables, the motion of the ODV is designated. The designated motion of the body is converted into the time change or the displacement (drive speed) and the steering angle of each wheel by inverse kinematics. The corresponding control signals are sent to a driving unit of the wheels.

  • Patent number: 5640589
Abstract: Using a writing implement model defined in the O-XYZ coordinate system a character or graphic form is generated on a writing plane model (O-XY plane) defined in the O-XYZ coordinate system. A control polygon for a character or graphical form to be generated is designed in advance in the O-XYZ coordinate system and a smooth writing motion model is generated using local basis functions that are weighted by the coordinate values of the respective vertices of that control polygon. The position component of the writing motion model represents variations in the position of a representative point of the writing implement model in the O-XYZ coordinate system with respect to time, and the posture component of the writing motion model represents time-variations of its inclination in the O-XYZ coordinate system with respect to the O-XYZ coordinate system. The writing implement model and the writing plane model intersect at a time, thereby forming a character segment.
